NIBAF Pakistan successfully organized a three-day training program on Agri Lending Excellence – From Policy to Practice, aimed at strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of banking professionals in agricultural finance. The program, held from January 21 to 23, 2026, at SBP BSC Peshawar, provided participants with comprehensive insights into regulatory frameworks, policy guidelines, and the practical aspects of lending in the agricultural sector.
The training was designed to equip banking professionals with the tools required to effectively manage agri-lending portfolios, assess credit risk, and implement best practices in agricultural financing. It emphasized the integration of regulatory compliance with practical lending applications, enabling participants to make informed lending decisions that promote growth in the agricultural sector while mitigating financial risks.
Facilitated by Mr. Yahya Hameed and Qazi Abdul Samad, the sessions combined theoretical knowledge with practical case studies, interactive discussions, and real-world examples. Participants gained insights into policy development, credit appraisal, risk management, and innovative financing solutions tailored to the agricultural sector. The training also highlighted the role of technology and data-driven approaches in improving loan assessment, monitoring, and recovery processes.
Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in collaborative learning activities that fostered problem-solving skills and enhanced their ability to design and implement effective lending strategies. The facilitators emphasized the importance of understanding the unique dynamics of the agricultural economy, including seasonality, market linkages, and the challenges faced by farmers and agri-businesses. By bridging the gap between policy frameworks and on-the-ground practices, the training aimed to strengthen the operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities of bankers in the region.
At the closing ceremony, Senior Deputy Chief Manager of SBP BSC Peshawar, Mr. Shehryar Khan, distributed certificates to all participants and commended the program for its contribution to capacity building in agricultural finance. He highlighted the significance of equipping banking professionals with specialized skills to support sustainable development in Pakistan’s agricultural sector. The ceremony also provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on key learnings and discuss strategies to implement the knowledge gained in their respective institutions.
The training program underscores NIBAF Pakistan’s commitment to professional development and continuous learning in the banking sector. By focusing on agri-lending excellence, the institute aims to promote financial inclusion, enhance credit delivery to the agricultural sector, and strengthen the overall capacity of banking professionals across Pakistan. Programs like this are critical in ensuring that banks can support economic growth, empower farmers, and contribute to the stability and development of the financial system.
Overall, the Agri Lending Excellence training not only enriched participants’ technical understanding but also reinforced the importance of combining policy knowledge with practical execution. NIBAF Pakistan continues to play a key role in nurturing skilled banking professionals capable of driving innovation and efficiency in the country’s agricultural finance sector.
