PSX to Remain Closed on August 26 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi

The Pakistan Stock Exchange will remain closed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, which falls on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal. The closure will apply to the exchange’s regular market activities, with trading, clearing and settlement operations suspended for the day. The holiday will affect all relevant market participants and operational activities conducted through the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The exchange announced the closure through a holiday circular issued by its Trading & TREC Affairs Department under reference number PSX/N-1023. The notification formally informed all TRE Certificate Holders, PSX staff and other concerned parties that Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited would remain closed on Wednesday due to the observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The decision is in line with the exchange’s scheduled holiday arrangements for the occasion.

According to the notification, the closure will cover operational trading activities as well as clearing and settlement functions. As a result, regular equity transactions will not take place on the exchange during the holiday. Market participants, brokers, investors and other entities connected with PSX operations will therefore have no regular trading session on August 26.

The notification was signed by Pakistan Stock Exchange Chief Operating Officer Jawad H. Hashmi and formally communicated to relevant institutions involved in Pakistan’s capital market infrastructure. Copies of the circular were dispatched to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the Central Depository Company and the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited. The communication ensures that the key regulatory, custody and clearing institutions are informed of the scheduled market closure.

The one-day suspension means that investors and market participants will have to account for the holiday when planning trading and settlement activities during the week. Since both trading and related clearing and settlement functions will remain suspended, transactions that would ordinarily be processed during the regular Wednesday session will instead be handled when the market resumes operations.

Regular equity trading and market operations at the Pakistan Stock Exchange will resume on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The resumption will restore the exchange’s normal trading, clearing and settlement schedule following the Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday. Market participants will therefore return to regular operations from the next trading day after the scheduled closure.

The PSX holiday announcement provides advance notice to TRE Certificate Holders, investors, brokers and other stakeholders so they can make the necessary arrangements around the one-day suspension. With trading, clearing and settlement activities all halted on August 26, the exchange will return to its normal operating schedule from August 27.
