PSX Extends Trading Suspension Of Five Companies Over Unresolved Compliance Issues

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has extended the suspension of trading in the shares of five listed companies for another 60 days, citing the companies’ failure to resolve the compliance issues that resulted in the original suspension of their securities. The extended suspension takes effect from September 21, 2026, and will remain in place until the underlying reasons are addressed or the additional 60-day period expires.

The companies affected by the decision are Abson Industries Limited, English Leasing Limited, Sadoon Textile Industries Limited, Hakkim Textile Mills Limited and Suraj Ghee Industries Limited. According to a notice issued by PSX, the trading suspension has been extended because the companies have not rectified the matters that led to the earlier restrictions on trading in their shares.

A common set of unresolved requirements applies to all five companies. They have failed to hold their annual general meetings, submit annual audited financial statements and pay outstanding dues payable to the exchange. These obligations form part of the regulatory and listing requirements applicable to companies whose securities are traded on the stock exchange.

Abson Industries Limited has additional issues beyond the common compliance failures. The company has not inducted its ordinary shares into the Central Depository System (CDS). It is also subject to winding-up proceedings, with an official liquidator having been appointed by the court following a winding-up petition filed by the company’s creditors.

English Leasing Limited is also facing legal proceedings in addition to its outstanding regulatory requirements. A winding-up petition has been filed against the company in court by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The company continues to have unresolved compliance matters relating to its listing and regulatory obligations.

Sadoon Textile Industries Limited has failed to induct its ordinary shares into the Central Depository System. The company is also facing winding-up proceedings after the SECP issued an order for the initiation of such proceedings. These matters remain among the issues associated with the continuation of the trading suspension.

Hakkim Textile Mills Limited has similarly not inducted its ordinary shares into the Central Depository System. In addition, the SECP has filed a winding-up petition against the company in court. These matters accompany the company’s failure to hold its annual general meeting, submit audited accounts and settle dues owed to the exchange.

Suraj Ghee Industries Limited is facing winding-up petitions filed by both the SECP and the company’s creditors. The company has also failed to induct its ordinary shares into the Central Depository System, alongside the broader outstanding requirements relating to annual general meetings, audited financial statements and exchange dues.

PSX said the extension of the trading suspensions was made under the powers vested in the exchange through Sub-section (7) of Section 19 of the Securities Act, 2015, as well as Clause 5.11 of the PSX Regulations. The latest decision means trading in the shares of the five companies will remain suspended for another 60 days from September 21 unless the causes of suspension are rectified earlier. The action keeps the securities outside normal trading activity while the companies remain subject to the outstanding regulatory, corporate and legal matters identified by the exchange.
