ICMA Pakistan and PAFLA, Pakistan Freelancers Association, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote professional development, knowledge exchange, research and capacity-building opportunities within Pakistan’s expanding freelancing and digital economy.
The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony attended by representatives from both organisations. The collaboration is aimed at creating opportunities for greater engagement between professional education and Pakistan’s growing freelance community, with an emphasis on knowledge sharing, research and initiatives that can contribute to the development of digital economy professionals.
The MoU was signed by Aamir Ijaz Khan, FCMA, CMP, Executive Director of ICMA Pakistan, Dr. Imran Batada, President and CEO of PAFLA, and Amin Ibrahim, Chairman of PAFLA. The partnership comes as freelancing continues to form an important part of Pakistan’s broader digital economy. Freelancers operate across a wide range of technology, creative, business and professional services, making access to skills development, research and professional networks increasingly relevant for individuals working in the sector.
Under the collaboration, ICMA Pakistan and PAFLA will focus on opportunities for professional development and capacity building. Knowledge exchange and research are also part of the partnership, providing a potential platform for both organisations to share expertise and develop initiatives connected with the changing requirements of the digital economy.
The signing ceremony was also attended by senior representatives from ICMA Pakistan. These included Asim Husain Khan, Senior Director, MPD and CT, ICMA; Dr. Maiyra Ahmed, Head of the Research and Publications Department; Muhammad Kaleem A., Head of the Information Technology Department; and Shams Bhimani, Head of the Job Placements and Industrial Linkages Department.
Their participation reflected the range of areas covered by the collaboration, including research, information technology, professional development and connections between qualified professionals and industry. Such areas can support the development of programmes that respond to the evolving needs of freelancers and businesses operating within Pakistan’s digital economy.
During the ceremony, a set of publications from ICMA Pakistan’s Research and Publications Department was presented to the PAFLA representative. The event also included a souvenir presentation, marking the start of the collaboration between the two organisations. The partnership is expected to provide a framework for continued engagement around professional learning, research and knowledge-sharing activities related to Pakistan’s freelancing and digital economy.
