Taxpayers can now update their biometric verification through the NADRA PakID App, providing a digital route for completing the biometric verification requirement linked with sales tax registration. The process allows taxpayers to submit their biometric verification application through the mobile application by selecting the relevant service and completing facial liveness and fingerprint verification. The facility places the biometric verification process within a digital application environment, allowing taxpayers to submit the required information through the PakID App instead of relying solely on an in-person process.
To begin the process, taxpayers are required to log in to the NADRA PakID App and select the Biometric MBVs option. After selecting the service, users need to choose the relevant option and tap Next to continue with the application. The next stage requires completion of facial liveness and fingerprint verification. These steps are used to complete the biometric verification process through the application before the taxpayer proceeds to provide the details required for the application.
After completing the facial liveness and fingerprint verification, taxpayers are required to enter the application details. The Industry field should be selected as Federal Board of Revenue, while the Purpose field should be entered as Biometric Verification for Sales Tax Registration. Applicants are also required to select the appropriate priority level, with the available options specified as Normal or Executive. Providing these details correctly is an important part of submitting the biometric verification request through the digital process.
Once the application information has been entered, taxpayers can review the details before submitting the request. The final stage requires users to check the information provided in the application and submit it through the PakID App. The process is intended to provide taxpayers with a digital method for completing the required biometric verification, with the application covering the identification, verification and submission stages through the mobile platform.
The move comes as Pakistan’s tax administration continues to rely on digital channels for taxpayer-related services and verification procedures. By allowing biometric verification to be completed through the NADRA PakID App, taxpayers can access the process through a mobile interface and provide the required verification information digitally. The process specifically identifies the Federal Board of Revenue as the relevant industry and sales tax registration as the purpose of the biometric verification request.
The biometric verification process also comes against a broader backdrop of changes in taxpayer participation and tax collection. Despite a 45% rise in the number of filers, tax paid with returns has declined, highlighting a difference between the growth in the number of taxpayers filing returns and the amount of tax being paid through those returns. The development makes taxpayer verification and digital tax administration increasingly relevant as authorities continue to process information and services connected with registration and filing.
For taxpayers using the NADRA PakID App, the required sequence is therefore straightforward: log in to the application, select Biometric MBVs, choose the relevant option, complete facial liveness and fingerprint verification, enter Federal Board of Revenue as the industry, select Biometric Verification for Sales Tax Registration as the purpose, choose Normal or Executive priority, and review and submit the application. Following these steps allows the taxpayer to complete the biometric verification application through the digital channel.
