On the occasion of Digital Learning Day, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, highlighted the importance of digital education and the opportunities being provided to the youth of Punjab to adapt to the rapidly evolving demands of the modern world. In her message, the Chief Minister emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to fostering a digitally inclusive environment for young people, enabling them to thrive in today’s technology-driven era.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed that the Punjab government is actively working to provide opportunities that will empower the youth and equip them with the skills necessary to succeed in a digital economy. A key initiative she mentioned was the CM Laptop Scheme, which she believes will serve as a revolutionary step for students in Punjab, giving them the tools and resources needed for their academic and professional journeys. According to the Chief Minister, this initiative is a vital part of the government’s effort to bridge the gap between traditional education and the technological advancements of today’s world.

In her remarks, the Chief Minister underscored that progress in the digital age hinges on access to modern technology and the effective integration of digital learning tools. She outlined how the government is providing advanced IT training programs that are aligned with international market demands, ensuring that Punjab’s youth are ready to take on the challenges of the global job market. These training programs cover a range of cutting-edge fields, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), software development, and freelancing. By offering certification programs that match global standards, the government is preparing young people in Punjab for high-demand jobs in the IT sector.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif also highlighted that the provincial government is investing in modernizing the educational infrastructure to support digital learning. She revealed that smart classrooms and digital labs are being established in government schools across Punjab. These initiatives aim to make traditional education more engaging and effective by incorporating the latest technology, thereby enhancing the overall learning experience for students. The inclusion of digital tools into everyday education is a crucial step toward ensuring that the youth are well-equipped for future challenges.

The Chief Minister further announced that the construction of Pakistan’s first Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore is well underway. This ambitious project is expected to become a hub for IT education and employment. The Nawaz Sharif IT City will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including twin towers that will be completed within the year, and a “Plug and Play” call center hub. This initiative is designed to provide both IT education and job opportunities for the youth, positioning Lahore as a key player in the country’s digital transformation.

In addition, Maryam Nawaz Sharif noted that world-class information technology universities are showing great interest in establishing campuses within the Nawaz Sharif IT City. The presence of these institutions will not only enhance the city’s educational landscape but also contribute to creating a thriving ecosystem for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
