Khushhali Bank Joins SBP and ADB Drive to Advance Women-Focused Banking in Pakistan

Khushhali Microfinance Bank has officially signed on to the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code (We Finance Code), an initiative driven by the State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank. This move underscores the bank’s focus on building a more inclusive financial ecosystem tailored to the unique needs of women entrepreneurs across Pakistan.

The We Finance Code serves as a benchmark for financial institutions nationwide, pushing them to adopt policies and frameworks that actively support women’s participation in the economy. By joining this initiative, Khushhali Microfinance Bank is taking concrete steps to promote financial products and advisory services designed to empower women with safe, secure, and straightforward access to banking facilities.

The agreement was signed by Aameer Karachiwalla, President and CEO of Khushhali Microfinance Bank. Speaking at the occasion, Karachiwalla highlighted how such measures are crucial to closing Pakistan’s gender finance gap. He pointed out that women often face layered challenges when it comes to managing finances — from cultural barriers to a lack of tailored banking solutions — and that initiatives like the We Finance Code are essential to dismantle these hurdles.

“We firmly believe that a women-friendly financial network is the best way to drive the country towards economic prosperity,” Karachiwalla remarked. “Across our rural and urban areas, we are eager to ensure our women clients are always well-served and are able to navigate their financial matters as fruitfully as possible.”

Khushhali Microfinance Bank already maintains a portfolio of services specifically geared towards women. These include loan products designed for women-led businesses, financial advisory programs that help women structure sustainable ventures, and investment facilitation that enables female entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises with confidence. By aligning its operations with the We Finance Code, the bank is looking to elevate these offerings further, ensuring that women have a supportive and reliable platform to advance their financial aspirations.

The broader vision of this collaboration is to build an ecosystem where financial institutions across Pakistan systematically adopt gender-responsive practices. This means not only developing specialized products but also investing in staff training, digital platforms, and support systems that make banking approachable for women, whether they are first-time entrepreneurs in rural communities or seasoned business owners in metropolitan areas.

For the State Bank of Pakistan and Asian Development Bank, the introduction of the We Finance Code is a strategic part of driving national economic stability. Women’s economic participation is increasingly recognized as a key growth lever, and by encouraging banks to streamline women-friendly services, regulators aim to unlock an underutilized segment of Pakistan’s economic potential.

As digital channels and tech-driven banking solutions continue to evolve, Khushhali Microfinance Bank’s participation in this program positions it well to leverage technology for greater financial inclusion. The bank’s efforts can serve as a model for how microfinance institutions and fintech players might structure their products to meaningfully integrate women into the financial mainstream.

Through this step, Khushhali Microfinance Bank is not just fulfilling a regulatory commitment — it is helping to build a pathway for thousands of women across Pakistan to take control of their financial futures with trust and clarity.
