NIBAF Launches Mid-Career Management Development Program to Build Leadership in Banking Sector

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan has launched its Mid-Career Management Development Program (MMDP), an intensive three-week training aimed at building the leadership and strategic management capacity of mid-career professionals. The program, scheduled from September 1 to September 20, 2025, is being conducted at the NIBAF Karachi campus and includes officers from both the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and SBP-Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC).

Designed to address the growing need for leadership and managerial skills within the financial sector, the MMDP is equipping participants with the tools to navigate complex challenges and drive institutional progress. The training is being conducted under the guidance of Mr. Attaullah from SJD BPRD, who brings in-depth expertise in organizational development and banking regulation.

The curriculum of the program focuses on leadership, strategic decision-making, and managerial effectiveness. Officers are being introduced to modern frameworks of management that emphasize innovation, problem-solving, and adaptability in the rapidly evolving financial landscape. Case studies, interactive sessions, and applied exercises are being incorporated to ensure that learning translates into actionable skills within the workplace.

For SBP and SBP-BSC, investing in the professional growth of mid-career officers is critical to sustaining operational excellence and policy innovation. The MMDP reflects the institution’s commitment to continuous development, recognizing that strong leadership at the mid-management level is essential for implementing reforms and ensuring effective governance.

The program also emphasizes the role of strategic thinking in banking. As the financial industry in Pakistan undergoes rapid transformation through digitization, regulatory changes, and global economic shifts, mid-level officers are expected to lead with agility and foresight. By equipping participants with advanced managerial competencies, NIBAF aims to prepare them for leadership roles that require balancing operational efficiency with long-term institutional goals.

Participants are gaining exposure to key areas such as change management, communication strategies, conflict resolution, and performance management. These modules are tailored to the realities of the banking sector, where professionals must align institutional objectives with regulatory frameworks while also fostering innovation and growth.

NIBAF’s focus on mid-career professionals highlights the importance of building a strong leadership pipeline for the banking industry. Through MMDP, the institute is not only enhancing technical and managerial skills but also fostering a culture of responsibility, adaptability, and strategic vision among future leaders of the sector.

This program is part of NIBAF’s broader mission to strengthen capacity building across Pakistan’s financial ecosystem. By combining expert instruction with practical applications, it ensures that participants are equipped to contribute effectively to their institutions and the country’s economic stability.
