NIBAF Launches Mid-Career Management Development Program 2025 in Karachi

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan has commenced the Mid-Career Management Development Program (MMDP), an intensive three-week training initiative designed to refine leadership, strategic thinking, and managerial skills among mid-career officers of the banking sector. Scheduled from September 1 to September 20, 2025, the program is taking place at NIBAF’s Karachi campus, gathering participants from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and SBP-Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC).

The program is led by Mr. Najeebullah Shaikh from the Banking Supervision Department (BSD-2), who brings significant expertise and insight into modern management practices. His role as trainer highlights the focus on equipping officers with not only theoretical frameworks but also real-world applications of leadership and strategy within the banking ecosystem. Through interactive learning modules, case studies, and scenario-based discussions, participants are being encouraged to enhance their problem-solving approaches and decision-making skills, critical for navigating the complex financial landscape.

The MMDP is designed with the recognition that mid-career professionals hold pivotal roles within their organizations, bridging the gap between policy formulation and operational execution. By strengthening their ability to think strategically and lead effectively, NIBAF aims to prepare these officers to take on greater responsibilities and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the country’s financial sector. The training also emphasizes adaptability in a rapidly changing environment, where digital transformation, regulatory shifts, and evolving customer expectations are redefining the banking industry.

Participants from SBP and SBP-BSC represent a diverse mix of professionals who oversee critical functions ranging from regulation and compliance to service delivery at the operational level. Their active involvement in the program provides an opportunity to exchange perspectives and share practical challenges, fostering collaboration and collective learning. This structured exchange is expected to build stronger synergies between departments and improve coordination in implementing banking policies and operations.

NIBAF has established itself as a premier institution for capacity building in Pakistan’s financial system, offering specialized programs that align with both national priorities and global standards. The launch of MMDP 2025 reaffirms NIBAF’s commitment to professional excellence by investing in the development of human capital within the banking sector. By focusing on leadership and management development, the institute underscores the importance of preparing mid-career officers for senior-level responsibilities in the years to come.

The program also signals a broader effort to ensure that Pakistan’s financial sector remains resilient and future-ready. As the industry continues to embrace innovation, digital finance, and customer-centric models, leadership skills and strategic foresight will play a central role in guiding institutions through transformation while maintaining stability and trust.

Running until September 20, 2025, the Mid-Career Management Development Program is expected to leave a lasting impact on participants, empowering them to contribute more effectively to the banking sector’s evolving needs.
