NIBAF Launches Mid-Career Management Development Program for SBP and SBP-BSC Officers

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) has rolled out its Mid-Career Management Development Program (MMDP), a three-week intensive training designed to strengthen the leadership, strategic thinking, and managerial capabilities of mid-career officers serving in the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and SBP-BSC. The program, which runs from September 1 to 20, 2025, is being hosted at NIBAF’s Karachi campus and is part of the institute’s broader mission to cultivate strong leadership pipelines across the financial sector.

The MMDP has been carefully structured to address the evolving challenges faced by mid-career professionals who are often at a critical stage of their careers. With growing responsibilities and complex decision-making roles, officers in this cohort require advanced managerial tools, strategic insight, and leadership development to align with both organizational objectives and industry-wide transformation.

Mr. Abdul Basit, representing SJD PSP & OD, is leading the program as the principal trainer. His sessions focus on equipping participants with frameworks that enhance not only individual leadership capacity but also institutional performance. Drawing from his expertise in organizational development and public sector management, Abdul Basit emphasizes practical approaches to problem-solving, people management, and strategic communication.

The training program integrates a combination of interactive lectures, case-based learning, and experiential exercises, ensuring participants can directly apply their learning to workplace challenges. By balancing theoretical concepts with real-world applications, the MMDP creates a holistic learning environment that resonates with the realities of Pakistan’s banking sector.

NIBAF has designed the program to highlight key areas of professional growth for mid-career officers. Central themes include leadership in dynamic environments, cultivating resilience in the face of uncertainty, and strengthening collaborative approaches to decision-making. Sessions also cover organizational behavior, change management, and the role of mid-level managers in driving innovation within institutions like SBP and SBP-BSC.

For participants, the program also offers a valuable platform to network with peers across departments and functions, encouraging dialogue on shared challenges and potential solutions. These interactions are expected to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and cross-functional problem-solving within the institutions.

By hosting the MMDP at its Karachi campus, NIBAF continues its tradition of delivering high-quality, specialized training programs that align with global best practices in professional development. The program reflects NIBAF’s ongoing commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and building leadership at every level of Pakistan’s financial system.

Mid-career officers are often viewed as the backbone of organizational stability and performance, and initiatives such as this ensure that they remain equipped to adapt to new technologies, regulatory shifts, and economic uncertainties. With programs like MMDP, NIBAF reinforces its role as a central institution in shaping the future leadership of Pakistan’s financial sector.
