The Scam Awareness Media Competition, an initiative aimed at educating communities on the growing threat of scams and financial fraud, has extended its deadline for submissions to 19th October 2025 due to overwhelming public response. The campaign, led by KSBL in partnership with JazzCash and Mobilink Bank, continues to gain momentum as more organizations, regulators, and media partners come together to raise awareness and protect citizens from fraudulent schemes.
In a major boost for the initiative, the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) has joined as a patron, reinforcing the competition’s outreach and credibility. PBA’s involvement highlights the banking community’s shared responsibility in building stronger safeguards against scams and ensuring that the financial ecosystem remains secure, transparent, and trustworthy.
The Scam Awareness Media Competition invites creative entries from participants to highlight the importance of financial safety, scam prevention, and responsible digital payment practices. By encouraging storytelling, journalism, and media-based advocacy, the initiative seeks to educate individuals on how to recognize and counter scams, while also creating a culture of accountability in the broader financial sector.
Several key institutions are supporting this cause, including the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Jamapunji, Karandaaz Pakistan, and GSMA. Media platforms like GEO News are also playing an active role in amplifying the campaign’s reach. With the involvement of such a diverse group of stakeholders, the competition is emerging as one of the most impactful initiatives in the financial literacy and digital trust space.
Industry leaders and senior bankers such as Zafar Masud, Mir Nejib Rahman, Muneer Kamal, Khurram Ali Mehran, and others have been closely associated with this initiative, reflecting a broad consensus within Pakistan’s financial leadership on the urgent need to address scams. Their engagement demonstrates how fraud prevention is no longer a challenge for individual institutions alone but a collective effort across the ecosystem.
With the PBA’s backing, the campaign is expected to mobilize participation from banks across the country, including major players such as HBL, UBL, National Bank of Pakistan, Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank, Allied Bank, Faysal Bank, Soneri Bank, Standard Chartered, and others. Digital banks and fintechs like Easypaisa and Mobilink Bank are also at the forefront of this movement, showing that the fight against scams requires collaboration between both traditional and digital players.
By extending the competition deadline and broadening its reach, the organizers are ensuring maximum participation and impact. The campaign serves as a timely reminder in an era of increasing digital transactions that awareness and vigilance are the first lines of defense against fraud.
