ADB Announces $2 Billion Sindh Project Pipeline to Boost Education, Health, and Coastal Resilience

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has unveiled a growing project pipeline for Sindh valued at approximately $2 billion, covering critical sectors including education, health, transport, housing, skills development, and coastal resilience.

The announcement came during a meeting between ADB Country Director Emma Fan and Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Jam Khan Shoro. ADB Deputy Country Director Asad Aleem and National PPP Expert Sultan Ahmad were also in attendance.

The proposed initiatives include several high-impact projects, such as the Sindh Secondary Education Development Project, the Sindh Nursing Workforce Strengthening Project, sustainable transport programs, skills development schemes, and housing and coastal resilience efforts. These projects aim to improve infrastructure while simultaneously enhancing human capital and workforce capabilities.

Minister Shoro welcomed ADB’s continued support and stressed the importance of finalizing the project pipeline promptly. He highlighted that timely completion of preparatory work would be crucial for the successful implementation of the projects.

Shoro further emphasised that development initiatives should not only focus on physical infrastructure but also on outcomes, including skills development and building high-value human capital, ensuring long-term benefits for the province’s population.

ADB’s involvement reflects its commitment to sustainable development in Sindh, aligning financial and technical resources to strengthen social, economic, and environmental outcomes across the province.
