ATM Withdrawal Issues Emerge as Connectivity Disruption Hits 1LINK Network

A significant connectivity disruption affecting various banks’ linkages with 1LINK, Pakistan’s largest interbank network consortium, caused considerable difficulties for customers attempting to withdraw cash from ATMs on Monday. The network outage led to widespread reports of cash withdrawal issues and impacted online money transfers.

Customers reported facing substantial inconvenience due to the disruption, which affected ATM operations across multiple banks. In response, 1LINK officials confirmed that the connectivity issues with certain banks were being addressed and assured that efforts were underway to resolve the problem.

The disruption comes in the wake of previous false reports about potential ATM closures across Pakistan. Earlier in August, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had clarified that there were no issues with ATM networks or LDI (Long Distance International) services that would impact the financial sector. The PTA had debunked these claims as misinformation, affirming that no such closures were imminent.

The recent connectivity disruption highlights the ongoing challenges faced by financial institutions in maintaining seamless services. As the situation unfolds, customers are advised to remain informed through official channels and consult their banks for updates on the resolution of the connectivity issues.
