Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Limited (DIBPL) has partnered with JazzCash, one of Pakistan’s largest fintech platforms, to drive innovation in digital financial services and streamline international remittance flows into Pakistan. This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Dubai Islamic Bank’s Head Office, attended by senior representatives from both organizations.
Under this agreement, international remittances sent through DIBPL’s extensive global network will now be routed directly into JazzCash mobile wallets. This integration aims to offer millions of Pakistanis a faster, more secure, and convenient way to access funds sent by their families and loved ones from abroad. The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to encourage formal remittance channels and strengthen the digital payments ecosystem in the country.
Beyond facilitating personal remittances, the partnership has a strong focus on building bespoke digital financial products for Pakistan’s burgeoning freelance sector. With the country ranking among the top global markets for freelance talent, seamless cross-border payment solutions have become increasingly critical. By leveraging DIBPL’s international banking expertise and JazzCash’s vast digital footprint, the collaboration intends to fill crucial gaps in payments infrastructure, particularly for independent professionals who demand quick, reliable, and Shariah-compliant access to their earnings.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ali Gulfaraz, CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan, highlighted the broader vision behind the move. He noted that by merging the bank’s international and local capabilities with JazzCash’s last-mile digital reach, they aim to deliver more accessible and innovative financial services. This approach not only enhances the convenience and security of remittance inflows but also aligns with the evolving financial needs of a diverse customer base across Pakistan.
Murtaza Ali, President of JazzCash, emphasized the significance of this partnership in empowering the freelance community. According to Ali, more than 25 percent of Pakistan’s 2.3 million freelancers already rely on JazzCash for receiving payments. Strengthening ties with DIBPL will allow JazzCash to offer even more tailored solutions for freelancers and other digital entrepreneurs, thus reinforcing their position as a key enabler of Pakistan’s digital economy.
As Pakistan’s freelance industry continues to attract global clients and generate substantial income, collaborations like this play an essential role in driving financial inclusion and economic empowerment. They also ensure that growing segments of the population, such as freelancers and gig workers, have access to the right tools to manage and grow their income streams effectively.
Through this partnership, both DIBPL and JazzCash reaffirm their commitment to supporting the development of Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem. The collaboration stands as a strong testament to how strategic alliances between traditional banks and fintech players can accelerate progress toward a more financially inclusive, digitally driven, and resilient economy, all while maintaining compliance with Shariah principles and regulatory standards.
