Faysal Bank Limited (FBL), Pakistan’s Best Islamic Bank, reaffirmed its commitment to care, diversity, equity, and inclusion by sponsoring the 2nd Faysal Bank Special Olympics Pakistan Unified Marathon, an annual event that celebrates resilience, equality, and the strength of community spirit. The initiative reflects the Bank’s continued efforts to promote social inclusion and create opportunities for individuals of all abilities to participate and thrive.
The marathon was held at Prism Block A, DHA Phase 9, Lahore, and witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from citizens, volunteers, corporate representatives, and athletes. Participants ran, walked, and wheeled together, reinforcing the message of unity and breaking down barriers between people with and without intellectual disabilities. The 1KM unified run, walk, and wheelchair segment was inaugurated by President and Chief Executive Officer of Faysal Bank, Yousaf Hussain, alongside Founder and Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan, Ronak Lakhani.
Addressing the gathering, Yousaf Hussain highlighted Faysal Bank’s long-standing association with Special Olympics Pakistan and its commitment to inclusive values. He said the Bank was proud to support the initiative, noting that the partnership had spanned many years and expanded from Karachi to Lahore. He emphasized that care is one of Faysal Bank’s core Islamic values and that initiatives like the Unified Marathon embody the shared vision of an inclusive society where every individual is respected and valued. He added that the determination and spirit of the athletes serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, dignity, and collective responsibility.
Ronak Lakhani, Founder and Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan, described the Unified Marathon as more than a sporting event, calling it a movement that promotes dignity, respect, and equal opportunity for all. She acknowledged Faysal Bank’s continued support, stating that the Bank’s involvement demonstrated a strong alignment with the principles of equity and care. She noted that the strong participation from athletes, corporates, and the general public reflected a growing awareness and commitment toward inclusion in Pakistan.
The event served as a platform to encourage dialogue around diversity and accessibility while fostering a sense of belonging for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
