Habib Bank Limited (HBL), one of Pakistan’s oldest commercial banks, has closed its operations in Oman. The closure is in compliance with Omani banking regulations and has been approved by the Central Bank of Oman.
Depositors and individuals with claims against the bank have been given a period from August 18, 2024, to October 20, 2024, to submit their documentation and claims.
The decision to close the Oman branch aligns with HBL’s strategy to consolidate its operations and focus on the domestic market in Pakistan. This strategic shift has also led to the closure of branches in the United States, France, Seychelles, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Mauritius.
HBL has been actively expanding its domestic operations in Pakistan, with initiatives such as HBL Konnect and HBL Zarai Services. The bank operates over 1,700 branches across the country.
