Jazz has emerged as a dominant force in Pakistan’s mobile network landscape, topping several crucial categories in the latest Mobile Network Experience Report by Opensignal. The independent analytics firm, renowned for measuring global mobile network performance, has highlighted Jazz’s leadership in terms of 4G availability, overall coverage experience, live video experience, and upload speeds.
The Opensignal report, which evaluates mobile network experiences in various regions, shows that Jazz has outperformed its competitors in key metrics that significantly impact user experience. The findings underscore the company’s strong position in the local telecom market, particularly in terms of coverage and connectivity.
One of the standout categories in the report was 4G availability, where Jazz scored an impressive 90.4, surpassing its competitors. Zong came in second with a score of 89.0, while Telenor and Ufone trailed with scores of 84.4 and 79.9, respectively. The high 4G availability score demonstrates Jazz’s robust network coverage and reliability in providing customers with access to faster mobile data speeds.
In the overall coverage experience, which measures users’ accessibility to mobile networks across different geographic areas, Jazz once again took the lead with a score of 6.3 on a 10-point scale. Zong followed with a score of 5.3, while Telenor and Ufone scored 4.8 and 3.3, respectively. This highlights Jazz’s ability to provide a consistent and expansive network coverage that ensures users remain connected even in more remote areas.
Live video experience, a key metric for today’s digital content-driven society, also saw Jazz leading the pack with a score of 35. This score indicates that Jazz offers superior video streaming quality for its users. Ufone, with a score of 31.4, followed behind, while Zong and Telenor scored lower at 29.4 and 20.2, respectively. With video consumption becoming increasingly important, Jazz’s high score in this category is a testament to the quality of its network for users engaging in live-streaming and video calling.
Another area where Jazz excelled was in upload speeds. The company delivered an average upload speed of 6.1 Mbps, outperforming Zong, which recorded 5.9 Mbps. Ufone and Telenor significantly lagged behind with upload speeds of 3.8 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps, respectively. This further cements Jazz’s position as the network of choice for users requiring efficient data uploads for various applications.
Opensignal also introduced a new Coverage Experience metric, which measures the geographic coverage of populated areas on a 10-point scale. Jazz again topped this ranking with a score of 6.1, leaving Zong, Telenor, and Ufone in its wake.
Beyond the Opensignal analysis, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) latest annual report highlights Jazz’s dominant position in the telecom sector. The company commands a 46.3% revenue market share, far ahead of its competitors, including Zong (22%), Telenor (19.5%), and Ufone (11.6%). With over 72 million subscribers, including 51 million 4G users, Jazz holds the largest customer base and 4G user count in Pakistan.
In alignment with its “4G for All” strategy, Jazz recently made headlines by becoming the first operator in Pakistan to shut down its 3G network, completing the transition in November 2024. The company’s decision to focus exclusively on 4G is aimed at reallocating spectrum resources to further enhance the user experience, signaling Jazz’s commitment to staying at the forefront of Pakistan’s digital transformation.
Overall, Jazz’s stellar performance in the Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Report demonstrates its continued dominance in Pakistan’s telecom sector, particularly in delivering high-quality, reliable mobile services to users across the country. With a growing subscriber base and ongoing investments in 4G infrastructure, Jazz remains a key player in shaping the future of mobile connectivity in Pakistan.
