JazzCash Achieves Milestone with 1 Million Raast QR Enabled Merchants

JazzCash, the prominent digital financial services provider in Pakistan, has reached a landmark achievement by onboarding its one-millionth Raast QR-enabled merchant. This development significantly bolsters the national initiative for a cashless economy, a vision championed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This milestone solidifies the position of JazzCash as the operator of the largest QR ecosystem in the country, aligning closely with the State Bank of Pakistan’s strategic objective to formalize the national economy through digital integration.

The celebration of this achievement took place at a retail outlet managed by the Behbud Association, a renowned non-profit organization dedicated to the economic empowerment and vocational training of women. The event was attended by high-ranking leadership, including Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON; Aamir Ibrahim, Chairman of JazzCash; and Murtaza Ali, CEO of JazzCash. By selecting a women-led micro-enterprise for this milestone, the platform highlighted its mission to bring marginalized artisans into the formal financial fold using instant digital payment tools.

The transition from a traditional cash-heavy model to a documented financial ecosystem has been facilitated by the interoperable Raast framework provided by the central bank. JazzCash has successfully leveraged this infrastructure to simplify the onboarding process for small-scale vendors and shopkeepers across the country. This high-velocity ecosystem allows for seamless transactions, reducing the reliance on physical currency and providing a digital paper trail for small business owners who previously operated entirely outside the formal banking system.

Murtaza Ali, CEO of JazzCash, spoke on the broader impact of this digital expansion, noting that reaching one million QR merchants is a pivotal step toward making digital payments a standard part of daily life for Pakistanis. He emphasized that the platform is designed to serve a diverse range of users, from neighborhood kiryana stores to mission-driven entities like the Behbud Association. By providing interoperable payment solutions, the platform is not only supporting small businesses but also reinforcing the structural integrity of the digital economy.

The focus of JazzCash remains on ensuring that financial services are intuitive and accessible to all segments of the population. As more merchants adopt the Raast QR system, the barriers to entry for digital finance continue to lower, encouraging a more inclusive economic environment. This milestone marks a significant chapter in Pakistan’s fintech journey, showcasing how public-private collaboration and modern infrastructure can drive large-scale financial documentation and empowerment.
