The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially unveiled the Ehsaas Fuel Support Program, a targeted social welfare initiative designed to provide direct financial assistance to registered motorcycle and scooter owners throughout the province. This strategic move serves as a direct response to the escalating costs of petroleum products, which have placed a significant burden on the daily commuting expenses of the general public. By focusing on low-income riders, the provincial administration aims to mitigate the impact of inflation and ensure that mobility remains affordable for the working class. Under the newly established framework, eligible beneficiaries are set to receive a monthly fuel subsidy of 2,000 rupees, marking a significant step toward inclusive economic relief.
A critical requirement for the program is the legal status of the vehicle, as the government has emphasized that only motorcycles and scooters registered in the applicant’s name will qualify for the support. To ensure transparency and prevent the misuse of public funds, the provincial authorities have mandated that the ownership transfer process must be fully completed and documented within the official records. Vehicles that remain unregistered or those currently registered under a different person’s name are strictly excluded from the eligibility criteria. This focus on documented ownership is intended to encourage citizens to regularize their vehicle records while ensuring that the financial aid reaches the actual owner and operator of the vehicle.
To facilitate a seamless and tech-driven enrollment process, the provincial government has integrated the registration system into the Dastak App. This mobile application, available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, serves as the primary gateway for citizens to access the subsidy. After creating a digital account, users are required to submit comprehensive personal information alongside specific vehicle details. The digital-first approach is part of the broader digital transformation strategy of the province, aimed at reducing bureaucratic hurdles and providing citizens with a user-friendly interface to interact with state services.
The application process involves the submission of several key digital documents to verify eligibility. Applicants must provide a clear copy of their Computerized National Identity Card, the vehicle registration book or smart card, and a high-resolution photograph of the motorcycle or scooter. In cases where the vehicle ownership has recently changed, the system requires verification from both the buyer and the seller to confirm the legitimacy of the transaction. Once the initial data is uploaded, the verification process is conducted through the e-Sahulat network, followed by a detailed secondary review from the Excise and Taxation Office. This multi-layered verification ensures that only genuine applicants are approved for the monthly stipend.
The registration window for the Ehsaas Fuel Support Program officially opened on April 6, 2026, triggering a wave of applications from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Once the Excise and Taxation Office completes its review, applicants receive a digital notification regarding the approval or rejection of their file. This initiative reflects a growing trend in provincial governance where technology is leveraged to provide targeted subsidies, ensuring that the fiscal space is used effectively to protect the most vulnerable segments of society. As the program enters its operational phase, the provincial leadership remains focused on maintaining a transparent and efficient distribution network to support the commuters of the province during these challenging economic times.
