NBP Introduces Pakistan’s First PayPak Pink Debit Card for Women Empowerment

7 Views by webdesk

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has announced the launch of the country’s first PayPak debit card exclusively designed for women. The NBP Amirah PayPak Pink Debit Card was unveiled on the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, which also marked the 75th anniversary of NBP. This initiative reflects the bank’s growing commitment to women’s financial inclusion, offering a secure, convenient, and empowering solution for female customers.

The newly introduced card is tailored for women who hold an Aitemad Islamic Amirah account. It aims to promote financial independence and participation by offering features such as enhanced security, special discounts, and women-focused Takaful protection. By catering to women’s banking needs, NBP has positioned itself as the first institution in the country to issue a PayPak Pink Debit Card.

During the launch ceremony, Rehmat Ali Hasnie, President and CEO of NBP, highlighted the significance of this milestone. He emphasized that the bank is committed to creating women-centric financial products that enable them to participate in the economy with greater confidence and ease. “This launch reflects NBP’s strong commitment to women’s empowerment. As the first bank to offer the PayPak Pink card for Amirah customers, we are enabling women to participate more confidently and securely in Pakistan’s financial system,” he said.

Fouad Farrukh, SEVP and Group Chief Islamic Banking, further explained that the card is an extension of NBP’s Amirah bundled product offering. He noted that it provides tangible benefits such as preferential profit rates on deposits and discounted financing products, all structured in compliance with Shariah principles. According to him, the card is a meaningful step toward empowering women and supporting their financial journey in alignment with Islamic values.

Adnan Nasir, SEVP and Chief Digital Officer at NBP, underscored the importance of digital access in driving financial inclusion. He pointed out that only 14 percent of Pakistani women currently have access to formal financial services, including bank accounts, highlighting the urgency for initiatives like the PayPak Pink Debit Card. “Digital enablement is key to financial inclusion. By introducing this new debit card, NBP will bring women closer to a seamless banking experience,” he remarked.

The significance of this initiative was also recognized by Bashir Khan, CCO of 1LINK Pvt. Ltd., who appreciated NBP’s pioneering role. He said that the PayPak Pink Debit Card not only promotes women’s financial inclusion but also brings innovative features such as investment in gold funds and exclusive discounts. “We believe such offerings will empower women to save, invest, and participate more confidently in Pakistan’s economy,” he added.

The NBP Amirah PayPak Pink Debit Card comes with a range of benefits. Cardholders will have access to exclusive discounts at more than 30,000 merchant locations across 158 cities, including restaurants, salons, and retail outlets. The card also offers a complimentary Gold subscription to the Golootlo App, giving women access to additional savings opportunities. Moreover, users can earn Gold Reward Points: PKR 1 on Off-Us ATM transactions, PKR 2 on POS transactions, and PKR 3 on eCommerce purchases.

In addition to financial rewards and discounts, the card includes comprehensive Takaful protection. This covers life insurance up to PKR 100,000, accidental death insurance of PKR 200,000, and additional benefits for serious illnesses, daily health cash, ICU coverage, and fraud protection. These features ensure women customers receive not just banking convenience but also enhanced financial security.

With the launch of the PayPak Pink Debit Card, NBP has set a new benchmark in Pakistan’s banking sector by prioritizing women’s needs. The card stands as a significant step toward reducing the gender gap in financial access, empowering women with a tailored banking solution that offers rewards, protection, and independence.
