NIBAF Conducts Transactional Analysis Training to Enhance Professional Communication Skills

NIBAF Pakistan has continued its focus on capacity building and staff development by successfully organizing a one-day training program titled Effective Communication as a Social Transaction – Transactional Analysis (TA). The session, held at NIBAF’s Lahore Campus on December 4, 2025, brought together participants from various segments of the financial sector to explore how Transactional Analysis can be used to strengthen communication, build better professional relationships, and create more productive workplace interactions.

The training was led by seasoned facilitator Mr. Sohail Muhammad Ali, who has a longstanding background in organizational development, human behavior, and communication models. Throughout the session, he guided participants through the foundational principles of TA, a psychological framework that explains human interactions through three ego states—Parent, Adult, and Child. The program emphasized how understanding these states can help professionals identify communication patterns, manage emotional responses, and engage in more constructive exchanges with colleagues and clients.

A total of 18 participants attended the training, representing commercial banks, microfinance institutions (MFIs), and the SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP BSC). Their diverse backgrounds created a dynamic learning environment where real-world communication challenges were discussed, and TA-based strategies were introduced to help navigate them more effectively. Participants were encouraged to apply the concepts to everyday workplace situations such as teamwork, customer dealing, conflict resolution, supervisor-subordinate communication, and cross-department coordination.

The session highlighted the role of communication not just as a functional requirement but as a social transaction that shapes organizational culture. By recognizing how internal mindsets influence outward behavior, attendees learned how TA can be used to reduce misunderstandings, improve clarity, and build trust within teams. The trainer emphasized practical exercises and reflections, ensuring that participants could immediately connect theoretical concepts with practical applications in the banking and financial services environment.

NIBAF’s training reflects the institution’s ongoing commitment to strengthening human capital in Pakistan’s financial sector. As digital transformation accelerates and banking operations become more complex, the need for strong interpersonal communication skills grows even more critical. Programs like this help professionals align their communication styles with organizational goals, adapt to diverse workplace personalities, and enhance service quality.

The training also serves as part of a broader effort to create a more responsive, emotionally intelligent, and collaborative workforce within Pakistan’s financial ecosystem. By enabling banking and microfinance professionals to better understand customer behavior, manage teams effectively, and communicate across departments, the program contributes to more efficient and people-centered service delivery.

Through initiatives such as Transactional Analysis training, NIBAF continues to reinforce its role as a leading training and development institution for the country’s financial industry. The success of the session illustrates the growing recognition of soft skills as an essential component of professional excellence within modern banking and financial institutions.
