National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan has taken an innovative approach to address digital transformation challenges by hosting an immersive Design Thinking Workshop that leveraged the globally recognized LEGO Serious Play methodology. The session brought together professionals from multiple sectors to collaborate on solving real-world digital pain points through structured creativity and experiential learning.
The workshop aimed to enable participants to think beyond traditional problem-solving frameworks by combining design thinking principles with hands-on engagement. Through the use of LEGO Serious Play, attendees were encouraged to construct and visualize solutions to complex digital challenges, promoting both individual creativity and collective insight. The methodology, known for fostering inclusive and open collaboration, helped participants approach digital problems from new perspectives.
Design thinking, a user-centered innovation framework, has increasingly become a powerful tool in shaping digital strategies and customer experiences globally. By integrating this framework into its training initiatives, NIBAF is equipping professionals with the tools to drive practical, scalable, and human-centric solutions that align with the fast-evolving digital economy.
During the session, participants engaged in activities that explored the core principles of design thinking: empathizing with users, defining challenges, ideating creatively, prototyping concepts, and testing solutions. LEGO Serious Play acted as a catalyst, turning abstract ideas into tangible models, which allowed for deeper discussion, better understanding of problems, and the co-creation of impactful strategies.
NIBAF representatives highlighted that this hands-on approach is not only engaging but also effective in breaking down organizational silos. By encouraging structured play, professionals were able to think more freely, articulate complex ideas with ease, and collaborate effectively across different disciplines.
The program focused on key digital pain points, including process inefficiencies, user experience gaps, and technology adoption barriers. Participants worked in teams to design practical solutions that can be applied to their respective organizations. The approach underscored how playful learning techniques can yield serious results when applied to digital transformation efforts.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve rapidly, organizations are under increasing pressure to innovate and adapt. NIBAF’s initiative reflects a growing recognition that experiential learning models can play a critical role in building future-ready professionals. The institute has positioned itself as a hub for forward-thinking training that blends creativity with strategic problem-solving.
Through initiatives like this, NIBAF aims to nurture a new generation of leaders who can guide institutions through complex digital transformations with agility and confidence.
