NIBAF Hosts Two-Day Women in Leadership Program in Lahore to Empower Future Leaders

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan successfully hosted a two-day training program titled “Women in Leadership” in Lahore on September 16–17, 2025. The event brought together emerging and established women professionals to explore the evolving role of female leadership in Pakistan’s public and private institutions.

The program was inaugurated by NIBAF’s CEO, Ms. Lubna Farooq Malik, who opened the event with a thought-provoking address. Her remarks underscored the importance of women leaders in shaping more inclusive and resilient institutions, while also reaffirming NIBAF’s commitment to capacity-building initiatives that promote gender diversity at leadership levels.

The training sessions were facilitated by Mr. Shahid Iqbal and Ms. Sabahat Bokhari, both experienced trainers with expertise in leadership and organizational development. They guided participants through discussions on influence, impact, and the transformational qualities women bring to leadership roles.

The program also featured distinguished guest speakers who shared practical insights drawn from their own professional journeys. Ms. Kiran Khurshid, Secretary of Price Control & Commodities Management and a Member of the Planning & Development Board Punjab, spoke about policy-level challenges and opportunities for women in governance. Mr. Sirajuddin Aziz, Banking Mohtasib (Ombudsman) Pakistan, addressed structural barriers and emphasized the importance of mentorship and accountability in supporting women professionals. Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Punjab Police, shared her experiences from law enforcement, illustrating how women leaders bring empathy and resilience to demanding environments.

Around 21 participants attended the program, creating an environment of meaningful dialogue, reflection, and shared learning. The interactive sessions encouraged participants to exchange experiences, build networks, and explore strategies to overcome systemic barriers in their respective fields.

The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, followed by closing remarks from Mr. Sirajuddin Aziz. His address emphasized that leadership is not defined by titles but by the ability to inspire, influence, and create meaningful impact. He further stressed that empowered women are not only role models within organizations but also catalysts for empowering communities at large.

Key reflections from the training highlighted that women leaders bring unique strengths—such as inclusivity, empathy, and adaptability—that transform institutions. The program also underscored the broader idea that when women are empowered to lead, the ripple effect extends beyond organizational walls, creating stronger, more resilient communities.

NIBAF described the event as an enriching experience, one that sets the stage for future programs aimed at equipping women with the tools, confidence, and vision needed to thrive in leadership roles. By fostering purposeful dialogue and offering platforms for mentorship, the institute continues to contribute to the national agenda of gender equity and leadership development.
