NIBAF Hosts “Unlocking the Power of Change Management” Training for SBP Officers at Karachi

The National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Pakistan successfully conducted a focused training workshop titled “Unlocking the Power of Change Management” on May 8–9, 2025, at its Karachi Campus. The program was aimed at enhancing the adaptability and leadership competencies of officers from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), who were the primary stakeholders of this initiative.

In today’s fast-evolving financial ecosystem, change is not only constant but increasingly complex. Recognizing this, NIBAF designed the training to address the pressing need for effective change management within the central banking framework. The two-day session equipped SBP officers with the knowledge, tools, and techniques to lead and manage change in their respective domains with confidence and strategic foresight.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Rajian H. Qazi, an experienced trainer and expert in organizational transformation and change leadership. With a proven track record in guiding large-scale institutional reforms, Mr. Qazi brought a rich blend of practical insights and theoretical knowledge to the table. His engaging and interactive style ensured a deep and meaningful learning experience for all participants.

Throughout the program, participants explored various dimensions of change, including understanding change dynamics, stakeholder alignment, communication strategies, resistance management, and sustainable transformation. A major theme was the psychological aspect of change and how it impacts teams and institutions—especially within the context of regulated environments like central banks.

Real-world case studies and simulation exercises were used to reinforce key concepts, allowing participants to apply learning to practical banking scenarios. Discussions also highlighted the role of leadership during transitional periods and emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence, transparency, and strategic planning in driving successful change.

This training comes at a time when banking institutions, including the SBP, are undergoing significant transformation. Whether due to digital innovation, regulatory shifts, or evolving public expectations, the financial sector must remain agile and responsive. Programs like this demonstrate NIBAF’s forward-looking vision and its role as a catalyst for institutional resilience and operational excellence.

Moreover, this initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the State Bank of Pakistan in strengthening institutional capacity and fostering a culture of proactive adaptation. By investing in human capital and enhancing change leadership skills, the SBP is positioning itself to navigate both current and future challenges with greater effectiveness.

NIBAF, serving as the learning and development arm of the SBP, has long been recognized for its commitment to advancing banking knowledge and managerial capabilities. The successful delivery of the “Unlocking the Power of Change Management” program is another testament to its dedication to nurturing a competent and agile workforce.

In an era where regulatory demands and technological shifts are reshaping the banking landscape, change management is no longer a soft skill but a strategic imperative. Through workshops like these, NIBAF continues to reinforce its role in preparing Pakistan’s central banking professionals to lead transformative efforts across the sector with resilience and foresight.
