NIBAF Pakistan Conducts Knowledge Management Session for SBOTS-28 Officers

NIBAF Pakistan conducted a specialised technical session on Knowledge Management (KM) for officers participating in the State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS-28). The session was held on September 16, 2026, at the NIBAF Pakistan Islamabad Campus and focused on providing trainee officers with practical and structured understanding of how knowledge can be created, shared, preserved and applied within central banking operations.

The Knowledge Management module was designed to introduce participants to the processes and frameworks used by organisations to manage institutional knowledge effectively. During the session, the trainee officers received insights into structured knowledge sharing, intellectual capital preservation and Knowledge Management frameworks. These areas are relevant to institutions where accumulated experience, information and professional expertise play an important role in maintaining operational continuity and supporting informed decision-making.

The session was facilitated by Amjad Masood, Joint Director at NIBAF Pakistan. Through the specialised module, trainee officers were introduced to practices aimed at improving the way knowledge is captured and transferred within an organisation. The programme also addressed the importance of creating systems through which institutional knowledge can remain accessible and useful, particularly as employees take on new responsibilities and organisations continue to evolve.

A key focus of the session was the development of a collaborative and continuous-learning culture. Knowledge Management enables institutions to organise expertise and information in ways that allow employees and teams to learn from existing experience while contributing new knowledge. For central banking institutions, such practices can support the transfer of specialised expertise and help strengthen institutional capabilities across different areas of operation.

The session also covered intellectual capital preservation, an area that can help organisations retain valuable knowledge developed through professional experience. By establishing structured approaches for documenting and sharing knowledge, institutions can reduce the risk of important expertise being lost when roles change or experienced personnel move to other responsibilities. The training therefore connected Knowledge Management concepts with broader institutional requirements involving continuity, collaboration and organisational learning.

NIBAF Pakistan is conducting the programme as part of its role in developing the professional capabilities of officers entering the central banking environment. SBOTS-28 provides trainee officers with exposure to different areas relevant to their future responsibilities, while the Knowledge Management module adds a managerial and institutional governance dimension to their training. The session introduced participants to tools and practices that can support effective management of knowledge within complex financial institutions.

The Islamabad session forms part of NIBAF Pakistan’s broader training activities for banking professionals and future central bankers. By covering Knowledge Management alongside technical and managerial areas, the institute aims to equip trainee officers with capabilities that extend beyond specific banking functions. The latest session focused on helping SBOTS-28 participants understand how structured knowledge systems, institutional learning and collaborative practices can contribute to organisational effectiveness within central banking operations.

NIBAF Pakistan said it continues to equip future central bankers with modern managerial tools and institutional governance capabilities. The Knowledge Management session provided SBOTS-28 officers with a focused learning opportunity on the role of knowledge sharing, intellectual capital, organisational frameworks and continuous learning in building stronger institutional practices.
