Pakistan Stock Exchange Closed for Youm-e-Takbeer as Nation Celebrates Defense Strength

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will be closed on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday celebrating Pakistan’s defense capabilities.

This closure follows Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement of Youm-e-Takbeer as a public holiday. In a statement, PSX declared, “All TRE Certificate Holders, staff and concerned are informed that the exchange will be closed…on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer.”

Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates a significant moment in Pakistan’s history, highlighting national unity and the strength of its defense. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the day’s importance as a reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and resisting external threats.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and commercial banks nationwide will also be closed on May 28th in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer. This national holiday underscores the importance of honoring Pakistan’s defense capabilities and national unity.
