Pakistan’s First Co-Badge Debit Card Launched by Faysal Bank with PayPak and Mastercard

Pakistan’s payments ecosystem has taken a major leap forward as Faysal Bank introduces the country’s first-ever co-badge debit card developed in collaboration with PayPak and Mastercard. This new product is designed to merge the security and reliability of domestic transactions with the global acceptance and interoperability of an international payment network. With this launch, Faysal Bank aims to give its customers enhanced financial accessibility, smoother digital transactions, and a more connected payment experience both within Pakistan and abroad.

The co-badge debit card serves as a dual-network solution that intelligently routes transactions depending on where the customer is located, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and convenience. Within Pakistan, the card leverages the local PayPak network, supporting the national payments infrastructure and encouraging the use of domestic digital channels. For international usage, the Mastercard network activates, enabling seamless global payments, online transactions, and ATM access across millions of acceptance points worldwide. This approach aligns with global trends where co-badge cards are used to increase user choice, reduce dependency on foreign networks, and support national financial sovereignty.

Faysal Bank emphasized that the introduction of this card reflects its ongoing commitment to driving digital financial inclusion and supporting Pakistan’s transition toward a more robust and modern financial system. The bank stated that the product is aimed at empowering customers who seek secure and flexible banking solutions without compromising on convenience or reach. By combining two networks into one card, users gain the advantage of a unified payment tool that supports day-to-day transactions while also enabling international connectivity.

Industry experts have noted that co-badge cards can reduce transaction costs, strengthen local payment infrastructure, and offer enhanced security features backed by both domestic and global standards. For consumers, the key benefit lies in the freedom to use the same debit card across different geographies without the need for multiple accounts or separate international cards. This is expected to particularly benefit frequent travelers, freelancers receiving payments internationally, and customers who prefer a versatile banking product supporting multiple modes of use.

In addition to the launch, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has highlighted its newly introduced public complaint portal as part of broader financial sector reforms. The portal, accessible at sunwai.sbp.org.pk, along with dedicated mobile apps available on Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, provides a streamlined channel for users to file complaints related to financial services and banking issues. The system is designed to make oversight more transparent and ensure that customers have an accessible avenue to voice concerns. The SBP has also published a tutorial to guide users through the complaint registration process.

The co-badge debit card initiative aligns with Pakistan’s wider digital payments strategy and ongoing national efforts to expand financial accessibility. As more banks and fintech players adopt integrated and interoperable technologies, Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem is expected to advance further. Faysal Bank’s latest offering marks a key development in enabling customers to participate in this evolving digital landscape with greater confidence and convenience
