Pakistan’s Youth Encouraged to Drive Growth of Digital Economy

Pakistan’s young population has been called upon to take the front seat in leading the country’s digital transformation. Advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad, while addressing the Skill-Up Batch-II Graduation Ceremony at Iqra University, underscored the critical role of youth in driving growth in the digital economy and positioning Pakistan as a strong global player in freelancing and technology innovation.

The event celebrated the graduation of 80 students who successfully completed an intensive eight-week training program in various technology-driven fields. Under the mentorship of industry professionals, participants honed their expertise in web development, digital marketing, video editing, and animation. Schehzad lauded their determination and congratulated them on completing the training, emphasizing that such initiatives play an essential role in strengthening the nation’s skill base.

“Youngsters are the achievers. They bring innovation and ideas. Now is the time to step out, make your name, and create an impact to strengthen Pakistan’s digital industry,” Schehzad remarked, encouraging graduates to move forward with confidence and ambition.

He highlighted the increasing importance of skill-based learning in today’s fast-changing economy, commending Iqra University’s Centre of Research and Entrepreneurship (IU-CORE) for building a platform where students not only gain technical expertise but also entrepreneurial and freelancing skills. The advisor emphasized that such training equips young professionals to explore both domestic and global opportunities in the digital marketplace.

Schehzad further pointed out that Pakistan’s freelancing sector has already secured a strong position in global rankings, generating billions of dollars in annual revenue. However, he stressed that this was only the beginning and that the country’s young workforce has the potential to achieve much more. “A lot is yet to be achieved, and our youngsters will reach that milestone in the near future,” he stated.

Encouraging students to adopt a resilient mindset, Schehzad noted that challenges and setbacks are part of the entrepreneurial journey. He urged the youth to treat failures as stepping stones to growth. “Obstacles are part of the journey. Failures unleash your true potential. Be the risk-taker as the young population will build a stronger economy for this country,” he added.

The graduation ceremony also featured participation from prominent personalities, including Prof. Dr. Nassar Ikram, Vice Chancellor of Iqra University, and Waqar Siddiqui, a well-known content creator and YouTuber, who attended as Guests of Honor. Their presence highlighted the collaboration between academia, industry, and digital creators in nurturing young talent.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates to the Skill-Up Batch-II graduates, who excelled in mobile app development, web development, video editing, animation, and vlogging. With their newly acquired skills, the graduates are expected to enter Pakistan’s growing digital workforce, contributing to the development of the economy through innovation, freelancing, and entrepreneurial ventures.
