SBP Governor Inaugurates JazzCash Experience Lounge to Advance Pakistan’s Cashless Economy

Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Jameel Ahmad inaugurated the JazzCash Experience Lounge in Islamabad, highlighting the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem. He noted that the facility would serve as a valuable platform to demonstrate how technology-driven payment systems can expand financial inclusion, enhance transparency, and build public trust in the formal economy.

The JazzCash Experience Lounge has been designed as an interactive hub where visitors can experience real-world digital transactions. Demonstrations include payments at fuel stations, retail shops, and small vendors, enabling participants to explore JazzCash services such as QR code payments, JazzCash Tap, and soundbox-enabled devices. The lounge also showcases advanced technologies including facial recognition, palm verification, wearable devices, and digital tags, reflecting the direction of innovation in the country’s financial services sector.

According to Murtaza Ali, CEO of JazzCash, the company’s goal is to transform how payments are made in Pakistan. By working closely with regulators and partners, JazzCash aims to deliver secure and convenient solutions that support businesses, foster financial transparency, and drive adoption of digital payments.

With a customer base of over 53 million, JazzCash has established itself as one of Pakistan’s leading digital financial services providers. The platform’s scale is underscored by the fact that in 2024 alone, JazzCash processed transaction volumes equivalent to nearly 9 percent of Pakistan’s GDP. This growth is supported by a nationwide network of 600,000 merchants and 300,000 agents, ensuring that both urban and rural populations have access to its services.

JazzCash has also made significant contributions to small business financing. The company disburses more than 140,000 digital loans daily, enabling micro-entrepreneurs and small enterprises to access credit with ease. This initiative not only supports business expansion but also plays a critical role in driving inclusive economic development across the country.

The inauguration ceremony drew prominent figures from the financial and telecom sectors. Attendees included SBP Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah, VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu, Jazz CEO and Chairman Mobilink Microfinance Bank Aamir Ibrahim, and Mobilink Microfinance Bank CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort required between regulators, financial institutions, and technology providers to shape the future of Pakistan’s digital economy.

The JazzCash Experience Lounge reflects the broader vision of the Government of Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to advance a digitally empowered and cashless society. It is expected to become a model for how public-private partnerships and technology-driven solutions can accelerate financial access and bring millions more into the formal economy.

By blending convenience, innovation, and regulatory alignment, JazzCash is working to redefine how Pakistanis interact with financial services. As adoption of digital tools accelerates, initiatives like the Experience Lounge will play a crucial role in ensuring that the country’s shift toward a cashless economy is inclusive, transparent, and future-ready.
