SBP Launches Rs. 75 Commemorative Coin Honoring Marka-e-Haq and Independence Day

In a symbolic tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces during the historic Marka-e-Haq, and as part of Independence Day celebrations, the federal government has authorized the issuance of a Rs. 75 commemorative coin. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will release the coin to the public through its Banking Services Corporation field offices starting August 15, 2025.

Crafted from nickel-brass with a specific composition of 79 percent copper, 20 percent zinc, and 1 percent nickel, the coin measures 30.0 millimeters in diameter and weighs 13.5 grams. This choice of metal and size reflects durability while maintaining the traditional look of Pakistani coinage.

The obverse side of the coin carries national symbols deeply rooted in Pakistan’s identity. At its center is a waxing crescent moon and a five-pointed star, facing northwest in a rising position, representing progress and hope. Encircling the upper periphery is the inscription “Islami Jamhuria Pakistan” in Urdu script. Below the crescent, flanked by two upward-curving wheat sprigs, the year “2025” is prominently displayed. The face value of “75” is placed boldly to the right of the crescent, with the word “Rupia” in Urdu script on the left.

On the reverse side, the tribute to Marka-e-Haq becomes explicit. The words “Marka-e-Haq” in Urdu script and the year “2025” in numerals occupy the central position. Above them, the phrase “Pakistan Hamesha Zindabad” is inscribed along the upper edge, symbolizing enduring patriotism. The design incorporates depictions of two fighter aircraft positioned on either side, a naval ship, and a Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS), highlighting the multi-dimensional strength of Pakistan’s defense forces.

The issuance of this coin not only marks an important chapter in Pakistan’s military history but also reflects the nation’s commitment to preserving and honoring its heritage through currency. Commemorative coins of this nature are often sought after by collectors and patriotic citizens alike, both for their symbolic significance and their intricate design.

The SBP has confirmed that the coin will be available exclusively at the exchange counters of all field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation nationwide. By linking the release date with the day after Independence Day, the initiative seeks to merge national pride with historical remembrance, offering citizens a tangible piece of commemoration.

This release follows a series of special coin issuances by the SBP in recent years, each aimed at celebrating milestones, honoring distinguished figures, or marking historic events. The Rs. 75 Marka-e-Haq commemorative coin is expected to hold special resonance due to its dual significance — honoring a decisive moment in the nation’s defense history while coinciding with Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day celebrations.
