The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced new employment opportunities for Assistant Directors under the 29th batch of the State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS). The positions are offered at the Officer Grade 2 level and are open to young and qualified candidates who meet the education and eligibility requirements outlined by the central bank. According to the official advertisement, all candidates selected through the recruitment process will be based in Karachi. The deadline for submitting an online application is September 14, 2026.
The recruitment drive covers a wide range of functions within the State Bank of Pakistan, giving applicants with different academic and professional backgrounds an opportunity to apply. The areas of recruitment include Monetary Policy, Macroeconomic Research and Data, Financial Markets and Foreign Exchange Reserve Management, Banking Policy and Supervision, Islamic Finance and Financial Inclusion. Positions are also available in Digital Financial Services, Information Technology, Finance and Risk Management, Internal Audit, External Communications, Strategic Planning and Human Resources.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s or equivalent degree with at least 16 years of education from an institution recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Candidates applying under a percentage based grading system must have secured at least 60% marks. Applicants whose academic records are based on a cumulative grade point average must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 or 3.5 out of 5.0. These academic requirements apply to candidates seeking consideration for the Assistant Director positions under the SBOTS 29th Batch.
The State Bank has specified a broad list of eligible academic disciplines for the positions. Candidates with qualifications in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Data Sciences, Actuarial Sciences, Accounting, Computer Sciences, Information Systems and Technology, Mathematics, Human Resource Management and Agriculture Management can apply. Applicants with degrees in Islamic Banking and Finance, Law, Media and Culture Studies, Philosophy and Physics are also eligible under the stated requirements. However, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Agriculture are not accepted for these positions.
Candidates who have obtained their qualifications from foreign institutions must provide an equivalence certificate issued by the Higher Education Commission. The requirement is intended to ensure that foreign qualifications meet the education criteria specified for the recruitment process. Applicants are required to provide accurate academic and personal information while submitting their applications, as incomplete applications or applications from candidates who do not meet the eligibility requirements will be rejected.
The maximum age limit for applicants is 26 years as of August 30, 2026. The State Bank has also provided a three year age relaxation for certain categories of applicants. The relaxation applies to female and transgender candidates, minorities, applicants from Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, as well as candidates from areas that were previously part of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. Applicants must meet the applicable age requirement after taking into account the specified eligibility and relaxation provisions.
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online through the State Bank of Pakistan’s official careers platform. The application deadline is September 14, 2026. The central bank has clarified that applications submitted by hand, post or email will not be accepted. Candidates are therefore required to use the prescribed online application process and submit all necessary information within the announced deadline.
The State Bank has advised applicants to ensure that the information provided in their applications is complete and accurate. Applications that are incomplete or submitted by individuals who do not meet the stated requirements will not be considered. Following the application process, only candidates shortlisted by the State Bank will be contacted for the next stage of recruitment. The announcement does not indicate that every eligible applicant will automatically proceed to the subsequent stages.
The SBOTS recruitment also includes functions directly linked with Pakistan’s changing financial and technology landscape. Digital Financial Services and Information Technology are among the areas included in the vacancies, alongside monetary policy, financial markets, banking supervision, Islamic finance, financial inclusion and risk management. The range of departments reflects the different operational and policy functions within the central bank for which Assistant Directors are being recruited.
