Visa Partners with easypaisa Digital Bank to Boost Card Transactions Nationwide

Visa, a global digital payments leader, and easypaisa Digital Bank have signed a strategic partnership aimed at significantly expanding card-based digital transactions across Pakistan and international markets. The agreement focuses on increasing the issuance and usage of Visa-branded debit and credit cards while promoting secure, seamless, and reliable transactions across physical and digital merchant channels.

Under the collaboration, easypaisa Digital Bank will enhance the overall cardholder experience by introducing premium debit cards, credit cards, and initiatives for cross-border payments. The partnership also emphasizes broader adoption of card payments for point-of-sale (POS), e-commerce, and ATM transactions, supporting Pakistan’s transition toward a cash-lite economy.

The agreement includes joint efforts in marketing, customer activation, merchant enablement, training, and technology enhancements. These initiatives are designed to expand card acceptance, drive digital payment adoption, and strengthen the national payments ecosystem.

Commenting on the partnership, Jahanzeb Khan, President and CEO of easypaisa Digital Bank, stated that the collaboration enables the bank to leverage Visa’s global payment network, advanced transaction processing capabilities, and high security standards to deliver a seamless payment experience nationwide. “Through this partnership, we aim to ensure that card transactions are accessible, secure, and convenient for all Pakistanis while supporting financial inclusion,” he added.

Umar S. Khan, Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan at Visa, highlighted the accelerating digital payments trend in Pakistan and noted that easypaisa’s extensive reach—serving nearly one in every five Pakistanis—presents a significant opportunity for broader adoption of digital financial solutions. He emphasized that the partnership underscores Visa’s commitment to supporting the growth of Pakistan’s digital economy.

easypaisa Digital Bank, Pakistan’s first digital bank, is backed by the Telenor Group and Ant Group. It currently serves a significant portion of the population, with women accounting for 31 percent of its users. In 2025, easypaisa processed over 4.5 billion transactions valued at more than Rs15 trillion, approximately 13 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.

Through this collaboration, Visa and easypaisa Digital Bank reaffirm their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital payments infrastructure, promoting financial inclusion, and enabling a secure and efficient card payment ecosystem across both domestic and international markets. The partnership is expected to further support Pakistan’s journey toward a more digital, cash-lite economy while improving convenience and accessibility for consumers and merchants alike.
