The National Institute of Banking and Finance Pakistan, an executive training subsidiary of the State Bank of Pakistan, has successfully concluded a three-day, high-level Internal Audit Certificate Program at its Karachi campus. Running from July 22 to July 24, 2026, the specialized executive training initiative was designed to enhance operational resilience, risk management protocols, and internal governance standards across both public and private sectors. The interactive face-to-face workshop brought together key audit professionals, risk managers, and compliance officers from commercial banking institutions, central bank supervisory units, and state-affiliated enterprise partners, including the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation.
The three-day program culminated in a formal graduation and certificate distribution ceremony presided over by Chief Executive Officer of NIBAF Pakistan Ms. Lubna Farooq Malik. In her keynote address to the graduating cohort of internal audit practitioners, Ms. Malik underscored the fundamental role that independent internal audit mechanisms play in maintaining institutional transparency, safeguarding balance sheet assets, and reinforcing corporate accountability. She emphasized that robust internal audit procedures are vital not only for individual commercial banks but also for state-affiliated enterprises and public sector institutions that underpin national economic stability.
The curriculum was structured and delivered by a distinguished panel of industry subject matter experts, including Naushad Ahmed Siddiqui, Hussein Hassan Ali, Khurram Munir, and Zaka-ul-Haq. The instructional sessions provided participants with practical tools and conceptual frameworks to navigate modern financial complexities. Technical modules focused on advanced internal control mechanisms, risk-based audit planning, and modern data analytics integration within routine auditing workflows. Specialized topics addressed the execution of dynamic fraud risk assessments, forensic investigation procedures, and strict adherence to regulatory compliance frameworks mandated by the State Bank of Pakistan.
Beyond standard commercial banking operations, the program delivered targeted instruction on auditing complex, specialized corporate environments. Participants evaluated operational risk structures within high-security public sector entities, examining specific internal control frameworks applicable to facilities like the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation alongside central bank operational units. By addressing the unique compliance requirements of both commercial lenders and specialized state organizations, the course ensured a comprehensive approach to institutional risk management. As the global and domestic financial services landscape undergoes rapid technological transformation, the traditional mandate of the internal auditor has evolved significantly. Modern internal audit departments are increasingly required to transition from reactive compliance verification units to proactive, strategic risk advisory functions that support executive decision-making. Programs organized by NIBAF Pakistan serve to standardize these advanced practices, bridge skill gaps, and align domestic control environments with global benchmarks established by international audit authorities.
By continuously expanding the technical capabilities of audit professionals across central banking networks, commercial institutions, and strategic public corporations, NIBAF Pakistan reinforces the foundational integrity of the national financial sector. Executive leadership confirmed that the institute remains committed to offering specialized certification platforms that build technical human capital, mitigate operational risks, and support long-term corporate governance across the country.
