Meezan Bank has inaugurated its first Service Center at Clifton Bridge in Karachi, introducing a banking model that combines round-the-clock digital access with personalised assistance from banking professionals. The new facility is designed to provide customers with greater flexibility beyond conventional branch operating hours while offering a range of self-service and assisted banking facilities.
Located along one of Karachi’s busy commercial and residential corridors, the Service Center is intended to serve both individual and business customers. Its central feature is the Virtual Teller service, a video-based banking solution that allows customers to connect with a centrally located teller through live audio and video. The service enables customers to receive real-time guidance and complete eligible transactions that would traditionally require support from staff at a conventional branch.
According to Meezan Bank, the Service Center is the only banking facility in the industry offering Virtual Teller assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week through its Cheque and Cash Deposit Machines. The arrangement gives customers access to banking support at any time while retaining direct interaction with trained banking professionals.
The Virtual Teller facility combines self-service banking technology with live assistance, allowing customers to receive guidance while completing eligible transactions. The model is intended to reduce waiting times and paperwork while making banking procedures more convenient. At the same time, the service retains an element of personalised support, enabling customers to seek assistance when carrying out banking activities outside regular branch hours.
The Service Center’s self-service facilities include cash withdrawals and deposits, balance inquiries, mini statements and funds transfers within prescribed limits. Customers can also deposit Meezan Bank cheques as well as cheques issued by other banks. The facility further allows customers to encash Meezan Bank cheques while providing access to Virtual Teller support throughout the day and night.
On-site staff are also available to assist customers with product information, digital banking activation, service requests and other banking requirements. This combination of physical assistance, automated facilities and remote teller support is designed to provide customers with multiple ways to access banking services from the same location.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Meezan Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Syed Amir Ali, Chief Operating Officer Retail and Branch Banking Operations Zia Ul Hasan, General Manager and Head of Operations Ebrahim Yakoob and other members of the bank’s senior management.
The launch forms part of Meezan Bank’s broader efforts to expand access to technology-enabled banking while maintaining personalised customer support. The bank has been developing several digital and self-service channels aimed at making routine banking activities more accessible to customers.
Among these initiatives are WhatsApp Banking, Cheque and Cash Deposit Machines, Virtual Teller services and digital account opening. Meezan Bank has also continued to enhance its card and lifestyle offerings as part of its wider customer service strategy.
The new Karachi Service Center represents another step in the bank’s efforts to combine digital convenience with direct customer assistance. By providing 24/7 Virtual Teller access alongside self-service banking facilities and on-site staff, the facility offers customers an alternative to traditional branch-based banking and extends access to selected services beyond standard banking hours.
