The Mojaloop Foundation, in partnership with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Innovation Hub, is launching the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Program in Pakistan to strengthen the country’s digital payments infrastructure and expand local expertise in financial technology. The initiative aims to develop a skilled community of system implementers, digital financial service providers (DFSPs) and hub operators capable of designing, deploying and supporting payment infrastructure built on Mojaloop. Through this program, the partners intend to strengthen local technical capabilities and contribute to the development of a broader, more inclusive payments ecosystem across Pakistan.
The accelerator program is designed to equip participating firms and professionals with the technical knowledge and practical capabilities required to work with Mojaloop-based payment systems. System implementers, digital financial service providers and hub operators are among the key groups targeted by the initiative, reflecting the different roles required to establish and maintain digital payment infrastructure. By developing expertise within the local market, the program seeks to improve Pakistan’s capacity to implement and support payment solutions while reducing dependence on external technical resources for specialised implementation and ongoing system support.
A central component of the initiative is its hands-on technical training, which is intended to take participants beyond theoretical learning and prepare them for practical implementation. Participants will also have opportunities to collaborate directly with Mojaloop Community workstreams, allowing them to engage with the broader technical community working on the development and application of the payment infrastructure. Dedicated mentorship will further support participants as they build their technical expertise and understand the practical requirements involved in designing, deploying and supporting Mojaloop-based payment systems.
The program also aims to strengthen local delivery capacity while creating new commercial opportunities in digital financial infrastructure. By developing firms and professionals with the expertise to implement and maintain payment systems, the initiative could help expand the availability of specialised services within Pakistan’s financial technology market. Local system implementers and service providers with relevant technical capabilities can play an important role in supporting organisations seeking to adopt digital payment solutions. The accelerator’s combination of structured learning, community collaboration and mentorship is intended to help participants build capabilities that can be applied to real-world projects and future commercial engagements.
The partnership between the Mojaloop Foundation and the SBP Innovation Hub places the initiative within Pakistan’s wider efforts to strengthen its digital payments ecosystem. A sustainable payment infrastructure requires not only suitable technology but also a skilled local community capable of implementing, operating and supporting the systems involved. Developing these capabilities can help financial service providers and infrastructure operators participate more effectively in the digital finance landscape. By focusing on local expertise and implementation readiness, the accelerator program seeks to contribute to the long-term development of digital financial services and support the expansion of inclusive digital infrastructure in Pakistan.
Applications for the Mojaloop Country Accelerator Program are open until October 18. Firms interested in expanding their payments expertise and contributing to the development of inclusive digital financial infrastructure in Pakistan are encouraged to review the program details and submit their applications before the deadline. The Mojaloop Foundation has shared further information about the accelerator through its programme announcement, which outlines the opportunity for organisations seeking to build capabilities in payment system implementation and digital financial services.
