LAHORE, March 2, 2025 – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has warmly greeted the people of Punjab and the Muslim Ummah worldwide as the holy month of Ramazan begins. In a heartfelt message shared on Sunday, CM Maryam expressed her gratitude to Almighty Allah for blessing the people with the opportunity to observe the sacred month and embrace its numerous blessings. She emphasized that Ramazan serves as a time to practice patience, piety, and sacrifice, with the month offering abundant mercy, forgiveness, and divine blessings.
CM Maryam stressed the importance of Ramazan in fostering spiritual growth, where prayers are accepted, and individuals seek closeness to Allah through acts of devotion. She further prayed for the peace, prosperity, and progress of Pakistan, asking for Allah’s guidance to help the country navigate through challenging times while ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
In addition to her spiritual message, the Chief Minister highlighted the various initiatives taken by the Punjab government to ease the lives of the people, especially the underprivileged, during this auspicious month. CM Maryam took the opportunity to announce the unprecedented Nighaban Ramazan Package, a landmark initiative that is set to provide essential rations directly to millions of underprivileged families across the province. This initiative marks a significant departure from traditional methods, which required long queues and cumbersome processes for ration distribution.
The Nighaban Ramazan Package 2025 has been designed to support low-income families, with a total of Rs. 31 billion allocated for direct financial assistance. Under this program, deserving families are receiving financial aid, and an amount of Rs. 10,000 is being provided to each low-income household. This amount is meant to help these families meet their basic needs with dignity during the holy month of Ramazan.
Furthermore, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the government had set up Sahulat Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab to provide essential commodities at affordable prices. These bazaars are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that every citizen, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to the necessities required for a dignified Ramazan. Field officers have been assigned duties at these bazaars to ensure smooth operations, preventing any disruptions and maintaining a steady supply of goods.
The Chief Minister’s message and the launch of the Nighaban Ramazan Package signify a strong commitment by the Punjab government to not only meet the immediate needs of the people during Ramazan but also to foster long-term welfare initiatives that ensure greater financial independence and security for Punjab’s most vulnerable populations.
In closing, CM Maryam Nawaz’s message underlined the importance of unity, compassion, and empathy during Ramazan, encouraging the people of Punjab to support each other and seek blessings for the well-being of the nation. Through the combined efforts of the government and the people, she expressed confidence that the country would continue its path toward peace and prosperity.
