BankIslami reported profit after tax of Rs3.1 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, alongside total deposits of Rs630.7 billion. The results highlight the bank’s financial performance during the first nine months of the year, with changes in its deposit composition and current account balances also contributing to an improved current account and savings account (CASA) ratio. The bank continues to operate across retail and corporate banking, trade services, cash management, investment banking and home remittances, with a focus on expanding its Islamic banking services throughout Pakistan.
The bank’s total income for the reporting period stood at Rs31.9 billion. Its Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) was recorded at 14.9%, remaining above regulatory requirements. The ratio measures a bank’s capital in relation to its risk-weighted assets and serves as an indicator of its capacity to absorb potential losses. Maintaining capital above the required threshold is an important element of banking-sector stability, particularly as financial institutions expand their lending, investment and other banking activities.
BankIslami’s total deposits reached Rs630.7 billion during the period, while its current accounts grew by 9.7% from December 2025. As a result, current accounts accounted for 50% of total deposits, compared with 43.6% at the end of 2025. This shift indicates a larger contribution from current accounts within the bank’s overall deposit base and was accompanied by an increase in its CASA ratio.
The bank’s CASA ratio rose to 74.7%, compared with 71.2% in December 2025. CASA measures the proportion of a bank’s deposits held in current and savings accounts. Changes in this ratio can influence a bank’s overall funding mix, although the financial impact depends on the rates paid on different deposit products and the bank’s wider funding requirements. BankIslami’s latest figures show that the share of current and savings accounts in its deposit base increased over the period.
The reported financial performance comes as Islamic banking continues to serve customers seeking financial products structured in accordance with Shariah principles. BankIslami has positioned its services around Riba-free banking and operates through a nationwide branch network of more than 560 locations. Its business covers retail and corporate customers, as well as trade, cash management, investment banking and home remittances. These services allow the bank to serve different customer segments, from individuals and households to businesses requiring financial and transactional support.
Earlier in 2026, BankIslami was recognised as Pakistan’s Best Islamic Digital Bank at the Euromoney Islamic Finance Awards. The recognition was linked to its efforts to bring technology-enabled banking solutions closer to customers. Digital banking has become an important area of development for financial institutions as they work to make services more accessible and improve customer interactions across digital channels. The award added to the bank’s recognitions during the year, although the reported financial results do not provide a separate breakdown of the contribution made by digital channels to income or customer growth.
BankIslami also received a Bronze award in the Creative Excellence category at the Dragons of Asia Awards 2026. The recognition followed its broader efforts in customer engagement and brand communication. These awards represent separate aspects of the bank’s activities, while the nine-month financial figures provide information on its reported earnings, deposits, income and capital position.
Commenting on the results, BankIslami President and Chief Executive Officer Imran H Shaikh said Islamic banks had a central role to play as Pakistan moves towards a Riba-free financial system. He described the financial results as a sign of growing trust in Riba-free banking and said the bank would continue working to earn the confidence of more customers. He also reiterated the institution’s stated mission of “Saving Humanity from Riba.”
The bank’s latest results combine reported earnings growth indicators with a shift in deposit composition and a capital adequacy position above regulatory requirements. Its Rs630.7 billion deposit base and 74.7% CASA ratio provide a snapshot of its funding structure as of the reporting period, while total income of Rs31.9 billion and profit after tax of Rs3.1 billion outline its financial performance for the nine months. The bank’s ability to sustain these figures will depend on its future earnings, funding costs, asset quality and the wider operating environment for Pakistan’s banking sector.
