South Korean core banking software and fintech company Bankware Global has secured a contract worth 7.98 billion Korean won, equivalent to approximately Rs1.57 billion, to build a system and supply software for Pakistan Post Office Department. The company disclosed the development through a notice to the Korean Exchange, stating that the project will be implemented through a joint venture. The contract is scheduled to run from August 7, 2026, through March 6, 2028, and its value is equivalent to 12.6% of Bankware Global’s total sales recorded in 2025. The agreement represents a technology supply project for Pakistan Post Office Department as it continues efforts to modernise its operations and integrate advanced technology across its extensive nationwide network.
Pakistan Post Office Department is a major institution in the country’s communication and financial inclusion infrastructure, operating a network of around 13,000 post offices. Beyond traditional domestic and international mail services, the department provides a range of public-facing financial and administrative services, including remittance solutions, utility bill collection and CNIC renewal facilities. The department’s large physical network gives it a significant presence across Pakistan, while its role in financial and public services makes technology modernisation relevant to the delivery and management of these services. The project with Bankware Global comes as Pakistan Post Office Department pursues greater integration of modern technology within its operations.
Under the agreement, Bankware Global will build a system and provide the required software for Pakistan Post Office Department. The company said the project will be executed through a joint venture, although the available details did not specify the structure of the joint venture or identify its other participating entity. The payment arrangement includes a 20% advance payment, while the remaining 80% will be released in stages. These payments will be linked to project implementation, the inspection schedule for each sector and the commencement of operations and maintenance. The contract period of more than 18 months will cover system development, implementation and subsequent operational and maintenance activities under the agreed project structure.
