Meezan Bank has crossed Rs3.05 billion in cumulative housing finance disbursements under the government’s flagship affordable housing initiative, Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Programme Ghar Ho Tu Apna, highlighting the bank’s continued efforts to expand access to Shariah-compliant home financing in Pakistan. The milestone reflects growing activity under the government-backed programme and Meezan Bank’s focus on making home ownership more accessible, particularly for salaried individuals seeking affordable financing options.
Through its Easy Home financing solution, Meezan Bank has enabled 490 families to achieve home ownership through 100% Shariah-compliant financing. The financing facility supports the government’s objective of promoting affordable housing and expanding financial inclusion by providing eligible customers with access to home financing structured according to Islamic banking principles. The bank said the latest disbursement milestone demonstrates increasing demand for its Shariah-compliant housing finance products.
The bank’s cumulative approved financing under the Ghar Ho Tu Apna programme has also crossed a significantly higher level. Meezan Bank has approved more than 3,000 housing finance applications under the programme, with total approved financing exceeding Rs22.557 billion. The approved applications represent a substantial pipeline of potential housing finance disbursements, with additional funds expected to be released as customers complete the process of acquiring their properties.
The difference between approved financing and actual disbursements reflects the various stages involved in the home acquisition process. While more than Rs22.557 billion has already been approved for customers under the programme, Rs3.05 billion has so far been cumulatively disbursed. The bank said the strong pipeline highlights the demand for Shariah-compliant housing finance and provides further scope for disbursements as approved customers progress through their property acquisition process.
Meezan Bank is using its nationwide branch network and dedicated housing finance teams to expand access to affordable home financing across Pakistan. The bank said its efforts are focused on making home ownership more accessible through ethical, transparent and customer-centric financing solutions. Its housing finance offering is intended to serve customers seeking Shariah-compliant alternatives while also supporting the wider objective of increasing access to housing finance.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Group Head Consumer Finance and Digital Banking at Meezan Bank, said affordable home ownership remains one of the bank’s key strategic priorities. He said the milestone of surpassing Rs3 billion in disbursements under the Ghar Ho Tu Apna programme reflects the confidence customers have placed in Meezan Bank and its Shariah-compliant housing finance offering. According to Siddiqui, the bank remains focused on providing authentic Islamic financing to customers seeking to purchase homes.
Siddiqui further said that with more than 3,000 housing finance applications already approved and a significant financing pipeline in place, Meezan Bank will continue supporting the government’s affordable housing agenda. He added that the bank aims to enable more Pakistani families to become homeowners through ethical Islamic financing while continuing to expand its participation in the housing finance market.
The latest figures also highlight the scale of demand for housing finance solutions that comply with Shariah principles. With more than Rs22.557 billion in approved financing and Rs3.05 billion already disbursed, the programme has created a substantial pipeline for Meezan Bank’s housing finance business. The bank’s focus on salaried individuals, combined with its branch network and dedicated housing finance teams, is expected to support further applications and disbursements under the programme.
Meezan Bank said it remains committed to expanding affordable housing access through innovative and customer-focused financial solutions that are fully Shariah-compliant. The bank is also seeking to strengthen its housing finance portfolio while contributing to the development of Pakistan’s housing sector. The latest disbursement milestone under the Ghar Ho Tu Apna programme represents another step in the bank’s efforts to broaden home financing and support greater financial inclusion through Islamic banking.
