NIBAF Pakistan has successfully conducted a customised Branch Manager Regulatory Compliance Certification Program for officers of National Bank of Pakistan in Lahore. The five day face to face programme was held from August 17 to August 21, 2026, and focused on strengthening the professional and regulatory capabilities of branch managers working within the banking sector. The programme was tailored specifically for officers of National Bank of Pakistan and covered a range of areas directly connected to regulatory compliance and branch management.
The training programme was designed to provide branch managers with a stronger understanding of regulatory requirements and the practical responsibilities associated with managing banking operations. Participants received focused learning on regulatory compliance, State Bank of Pakistan regulations, anti money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism requirements, risk management and internal controls. The programme also covered sales management, branch profitability management and effective compliance practices applicable to branch banking.
Regulatory compliance remains an important responsibility for branch managers because banking operations are subject to extensive requirements governing customer relationships, financial transactions, risk controls and internal processes. Branch managers are responsible for ensuring that day to day activities are carried out within the applicable regulatory and institutional frameworks. The customised nature of the NIBAF Pakistan programme allowed the training to address these responsibilities within the context of branch management.
The programme also placed emphasis on State Bank of Pakistan regulations, giving participants an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of regulatory expectations relevant to branch operations. Knowledge of central bank requirements is essential for banking professionals involved in managing branches, as compliance obligations can affect customer onboarding, transactions, internal controls, risk management and other operational areas.
Anti money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism requirements were another key component of the training. Branch managers play an important role in ensuring that appropriate compliance procedures are followed at the branch level. Strengthening their understanding of these requirements can support better identification and management of compliance risks and contribute to stronger controls within banking operations.
Risk management and internal controls were also included in the programme. Effective internal controls are important for identifying operational weaknesses, managing potential risks and maintaining the integrity of branch processes. The training provided participants with focused exposure to these areas alongside regulatory compliance, allowing branch managers to consider compliance and risk management as interconnected responsibilities within their daily operations.
The programme also addressed sales management, recognising the need for branch managers to balance business development with regulatory and operational requirements. Branch managers are responsible for supporting business performance while ensuring that customer related activities and financial products are handled according to applicable rules and internal procedures. The inclusion of sales management in the training provided a broader management perspective alongside the programme’s compliance focused content.
Branch profitability management was another area covered during the five day programme. Financial performance is an important part of branch management, and managers need to understand how revenues, expenses, customer relationships and operational efficiency affect branch level profitability. Combining profitability management with regulatory compliance allows branch managers to consider business performance within a broader framework of responsible banking operations.
The programme was delivered in a face to face format at the Lahore venue, allowing participating officers to engage directly with the faculty and other participants throughout the training. The faculty included Mr. Shahid Iqbal and Mr. Waleed Khan, who delivered the sessions covering the different areas included in the customised certification programme.
The customised format of the programme enabled NIBAF Pakistan to focus the training on the specific responsibilities and requirements associated with branch management at National Bank of Pakistan. Rather than relying solely on a general banking curriculum, the programme brought together regulatory, operational, risk and business management topics relevant to branch managers.
Training programmes focused on regulatory compliance can play an important role in strengthening professional capabilities within financial institutions. Banking regulations and compliance requirements continue to evolve, requiring branch management teams to maintain an updated understanding of applicable rules and procedures. Structured training can help professionals strengthen their knowledge and apply compliance principles more effectively in their operational responsibilities.
The programme also reflects the importance of developing a strong compliance culture within Pakistan’s banking sector. Compliance is not limited to dedicated compliance departments, as branch managers and other operational teams have responsibilities that directly affect how regulatory requirements are implemented. Building knowledge at the branch management level can therefore support stronger adherence to established procedures across banking operations.
NIBAF Pakistan’s customised training initiative for National Bank of Pakistan officers demonstrates its focus on professional development within the financial sector. By bringing together regulatory compliance, State Bank of Pakistan regulations, anti money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism requirements, risk management, internal controls and business management, the programme provided participants with a broad learning framework for branch operations.
The successful completion of the Branch Manager Regulatory Compliance Certification Program in Lahore marks another training initiative focused on strengthening the capabilities of banking professionals. Through customised programmes such as this, NIBAF Pakistan continues to provide specialised learning opportunities designed around the operational and regulatory responsibilities of financial institutions in Pakistan.
