NIBAF Pakistan is conducting its three-week Mid-Career Management Development Program (MMDP) at its Karachi Campus, bringing together officers from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation (SBPBSC) and NIBAF Pakistan. The initiative, which began on September 21 and will continue through October 10, 2026, is focused on management development, leadership capacity and professional learning for officials working within the central banking framework. The program is being held as part of NIBAF Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen the capabilities of mid-career professionals and prepare them for greater responsibilities within the financial and central banking system.
The MMDP is structured as an intensive learning initiative covering areas that are relevant to officers involved in policymaking, financial sector supervision, governance and institutional management. During the three-week program, participants are receiving practical insights into central bank policymaking, supervisory governance, economic stewardship and strategic leadership. These areas are closely connected to the responsibilities of financial institutions and central banking authorities, where decisions can involve monetary policy, regulatory oversight, economic conditions and organisational management. By bringing these subjects together within one management development program, NIBAF Pakistan is providing participants with an opportunity to broaden their understanding of the institutional and economic responsibilities associated with their roles.
A panel of trainers and facilitators is leading different sessions throughout the program. The facilitators named by NIBAF Pakistan include Syed Asim Rashid, Asif Mahmood, Saeed Afgan, Najeebullah, Yasir Arfat, Adeel Imtiaz Shaikh, Umair Ahmed and Imran Sultan. Saeed Afgan is serving as Additional Director at the Banking Policy and Regulations Department (BPRD) of SBP, while Najeebullah is serving as Senior Joint Director at BSD-2, SBP. Their participation brings direct experience from areas connected with banking policy, regulation and supervisory functions to the management development initiative.
The program is designed to provide participants with actionable knowledge that can be applied to their professional responsibilities. Central bank officials operate across a range of functions that require an understanding of economic developments, regulatory frameworks, institutional governance and strategic decision-making. Training that connects these areas can help participants examine management responsibilities alongside the broader role of central banking institutions. The MMDP therefore places emphasis on both leadership development and subject areas that influence the work of financial sector professionals.
NIBAF Pakistan has positioned the MMDP as part of its wider focus on developing human capital within the central banking framework. Professional development programs are an important component of institutional capacity building because banking and financial sector responsibilities continue to involve changing economic conditions, regulatory requirements and management challenges. For officers at the mid-career stage, such programs can provide a structured setting to strengthen leadership capabilities while also expanding their understanding of policy and supervisory matters relevant to their work.
The participation of officers from SBP, SBPBSC and NIBAF Pakistan also gives the program an institutional dimension, bringing professionals from different parts of the central banking framework into a shared learning environment. The Karachi Campus is hosting the initiative from September 21 to October 10, providing three weeks for training, discussions and knowledge development. The program reflects the role of NIBAF Pakistan in supporting professional education and capacity building for personnel working across the central banking system.
Through the MMDP, NIBAF Pakistan is continuing its focus on strengthening the skills and leadership capabilities of financial sector professionals. The current program combines management development with subjects including central bank policymaking, supervisory governance and economic stewardship, while the participating facilitators bring experience from banking, policy and related professional fields. As the initiative continues until October 10, 2026, participating officers are expected to engage with the program’s training sessions as part of their broader professional development within the central banking framework.
