Pak Qatar Family Takaful Limited has been appointed by the Federal Government of Pakistan as an Authorized Pension Fund Manager for the Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme, adding the company to the group of institutions responsible for managing retirement funds under the federal contributory pension framework. The company disclosed the appointment to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, marking an expansion of its role in Pakistan’s developing pension management landscape.
The disclosure was made in accordance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1 of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Rule Book. Under the appointment, Pak Qatar Family Takaful will be authorised to participate in the management of pension funds established under the federal Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme. The appointment gives the company an opportunity to extend its retirement and savings services to federal government employees covered by the contributory pension arrangement.
Pak Qatar Family Takaful said the federal appointment builds on its earlier appointments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan. The company said these appointments have strengthened its position in the pension management segment and support its efforts to expand access to Shariah compliant retirement planning solutions. Its latest role at the federal level extends that participation to employees covered under the national government’s pension framework.
The company said it remains focused on strengthening Pakistan’s retirement ecosystem through ethical, innovative and sustainable financial solutions. Its participation in the federal scheme also places greater emphasis on the availability of Shariah compliant options within the country’s pension structure, providing employees with an additional avenue for retirement savings based on Islamic financial principles.
The federal government’s move comes as Pakistan continues to develop its contributory pension framework and broaden the institutional base involved in managing retirement savings. The Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme is designed around pension contributions and professionally managed funds, with approved pension fund managers responsible for establishing and operating the relevant investment options for participating employees.
The Finance Ministry last week notified a list of 16 eligible Pension Fund Managers that had executed agreements with the government for the Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme 2024. Pak Qatar Family Takaful was included in the approved list alongside a number of major asset management, investment and insurance institutions. The approval provides these institutions with the authority to establish, operate and manage pension funds under the federal scheme.
The other institutions included in the Finance Ministry’s list are ABL Asset Management, Al Habib Asset Management, Al Meezan Investment Management, Atlas Asset Management, Faysal Asset Management, JS Investments, Lucky Investments, MCB Investment Management, National Investment Trust, EFU Life Assurance, Alfalah Asset Management, HBL Asset Management, UBL Fund Managers, NBP Fund Management and AWT Investments.
Under their agreements with the federal government, the approved pension fund managers will establish, operate and manage conventional or Shariah compliant funds for state employees participating in the federal contributory pension scheme. Only the institutions included in the approved group are authorised to launch and manage employer pension funds under the arrangement.
The appointment of Pak Qatar Family Takaful adds a Shariah compliant financial institution to the group of approved managers serving the federal pension framework. The company’s existing appointments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan provide it with experience across provincial pension arrangements, while the federal appointment expands the geographical and institutional reach of its pension management activities.
For Pakistan’s financial sector, the development highlights the growing role of specialised pension fund managers in managing long term retirement savings. The inclusion of both conventional and Shariah compliant options within the federal scheme also provides government employees with different investment structures as the country moves toward a more formal contributory pension system. Pak Qatar Family Takaful’s appointment further strengthens the presence of Islamic financial services within this emerging retirement savings framework.
