Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has formally called upon Pakistani-American business leaders, prominent entrepreneurs, technologists, and corporate financiers to actively mobilize their investment capital, international networks, and corporate expertise toward Pakistan. Addressing an elite gathering that included twenty high-profile business figureheads, more than a third of whom previously served as top-tier executives within Fortune 500 companies, the minister outlined a strategic vision aimed at deep public-private collaboration. According to an official ministerial statement, Iqbal emphasized that the country has reached a defining historical juncture where recent foundational achievements in internal national security, regional diplomacy, and comprehensive macroeconomic stability must be converted into sustained, high-quality economic expansion.
The planning minister highlighted that overseas Pakistanis continue to maintain a profound emotional and financial connection to their homeland, pointing specifically to the Pakistani-American community for distinguishing itself globally across diverse technical fields including digital technology, finance, modern healthcare, energy infrastructure, and academic research. He explained that following a series of highly difficult but legally necessary structural adjustments executed under the administration of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the state has successfully restored macroeconomic balance. These painful fiscal corrections have successfully brought core inflation metrics down, allowed the central bank to ease its policy lending rates, and earned the country international recognition as one of the most visible economic turnaround narratives in recent years.
Iqbal underscored that the strategic baseline for structural growth has been firmly established and the national economy has been thoroughly rebuilt, leaving the acquisition of diaspora capital and global networks as the final critical missing component. He further noted that the country’s constructive diplomatic role in maintaining and promoting regional peace has substantially fortified global investor confidence, paving the way for fresh international partnerships and trade agreements. Given these favorable conditions, the minister asserted that the timing is perfect for non-resident professionals to formally include Pakistani ventures within their commercial and personal investment portfolios, transforming ongoing philanthropic efforts into structured equity partnerships.
The high-level engagement was deliberately structured to align diaspora capital with the state’s newly minted URAAN-Pakistan economic blueprint, an aggressive developmental roadmap targeting a one trillion-dollar national economy by the year 2035 and a three trillion-dollar economy by 2047. The planning minister explained that this long-term growth model is anchored firmly to the celebrated 5Es operational framework, which prioritizes Exports, E-Pakistan digital transformation, Environment and Climate Change resilience, Energy and Infrastructure modernization, and societal Equity and Empowerment. Within this layout, the government has designated information technology, modernized agriculture, large-scale manufacturing, tourism, mining and minerals, the blue economy, highly skilled human resources, and creative industries as high-priority export sectors.
To guarantee maximum protection for foreign capital, the minister assured the visiting delegation that the federal government remains unyielding in its commitment to fostering a highly enabling, transparent environment for venture creation and international entrepreneurship. He expressed total confidence that with the structured participation of the diaspora, the country will successfully transition into a globally competitive, knowledge-based economy. Reaffirming this technological commitment, Iqbal highlighted active initiatives to connect with Pakistani-American researchers through institutional partnerships with the University of Illinois Chicago, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago under the wider US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor, while concurrently tapping into global experts to catalyze national artificial intelligence readiness and digital transformation.
