Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has appointed Amad Khan as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), following approval from the company’s Board of Directors. The appointment comes as PTCL continues to expand its connectivity and digital services portfolio and strengthen its position as an integrated technology and information and communications technology (ICT) company.
Amad brings more than two decades of professional experience across telecommunications, technology and digital transformation. His career spans Pakistan, Australia and the Middle East, with expertise in commercial strategy, product management, revenue growth, customer experience and large-scale technology transformation. His background includes leadership responsibilities involving connectivity services, product development and technology-led business initiatives.
Since joining PTCL, Amad has held senior commercial leadership positions across the company’s wireline portfolio. His responsibilities have covered Fiber broadband, Voice, Television, over-the-top (OTT) services and the Internet of Things (IoT). These business areas form an important part of PTCL’s consumer and enterprise service offerings, requiring coordination between product development, network capabilities, customer requirements and commercial performance.
Amad has played a significant role in advancing PTCL’s Fiber strategy, contributing to the company’s position as Pakistan’s leading Fiber operator, according to the company announcement. His work has also involved supporting revenue growth, improving customer experience and advancing digital transformation initiatives. The expansion of fiber-based connectivity has remained an important area for telecommunications operators as demand for reliable, high-speed internet and digital services continues to increase.
Before joining PTCL, Amad held senior positions at Optus Australia, where he contributed to the company’s Fiber and 5G Fixed Wireless Access strategies. His responsibilities also included leading product and technology transformation initiatives. This experience provided exposure to the development of broadband services and the use of wireless technologies to expand connectivity options in a competitive telecommunications market.
His earlier professional experience includes roles at Warid Telecom, Huawei, International Turnkey Systems and Saudi Business Machines. These assignments gave him exposure to different parts of the telecommunications and technology industries, including network services, product innovation, business operations and technology-led transformation. His career across these organisations has involved working in markets with different customer requirements and business environments.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Amad will lead PTCL’s marketing and customer growth agenda. His responsibilities will cover brand strategy, product positioning, customer experience, digital engagement and go-to-market execution. These functions are central to how telecommunications companies develop their market presence, communicate service offerings and attract and retain customers.
The new role will require coordination across PTCL’s connectivity and digital services portfolio. Product positioning and marketing strategies are increasingly important as customers compare broadband speeds, service reliability, pricing and additional digital offerings. The company’s focus will include strengthening its market position, developing stronger customer preference and supporting sustainable growth across its services.
Customer experience is another major area within the CMO’s responsibilities. Telecommunications providers interact with customers through several stages, from selecting a service and completing installation to receiving ongoing technical support and managing subscriptions. Improvements in customer engagement and service communication can therefore play a role in customer satisfaction and retention. PTCL’s stated priorities include placing these considerations within its wider marketing and growth strategy.
Amad holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where he earned a place on the Dean’s Honors List. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES). His academic background combines business management with technical education, complementing his professional experience across commercial and technology functions.
The appointment comes as PTCL continues to develop its role as an integrated technology and ICT company. Alongside traditional telecommunications services, the company is expanding high-speed connectivity and developing digital offerings intended to meet changing customer and business requirements. Fiber broadband, television, digital engagement and connected services remain among the areas shaping its wider portfolio.
With Amad taking responsibility for marketing and customer growth, PTCL will be looking to align its brand positioning and commercial activities with its broader business priorities. His experience across the company’s wireline operations, along with previous assignments in Australia and the Middle East, will form part of his leadership background as he takes on the new position. The Board-approved appointment adds to PTCL’s senior leadership structure as the company continues its efforts to expand connectivity and digital services in Pakistan.
