SECP Reorganizes Capital Market Institute to Boost Youth FinTech Training

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has announced a strategic initiative to overhaul financial markets training and modernise professional development across the national capital sector. The Chairman of the regulatory commission, Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, revealed comprehensive plans to restructure how financial talent is trained and accredited throughout the country. The initiative aims to align professional skills with modern digital requirements and build a competent workforce capable of managing increasingly complex capital markets.

As part of the structural overhaul, the Capital Market Institute is undergoing significant reorganization and strengthening to better serve the expanding needs of Pakistan’s financial ecosystem. The transformation plan seeks to turn the institute into a premier national center for talent development and continuous skills acquisition. Under the new strategy, educational frameworks will be updated to reflect modern global market trends, ensuring that emerging professionals gain relevant market exposure and practical operational knowledge.

A central element of the overhaul includes introducing targeted educational programming, specifically virtual financial technology courses aimed at younger demographics. These online FinTech modules are designed to equip young professionals and students with crucial knowledge covering digital assets, modern financial software, data analytics, and regulatory technology frameworks. By making specialized financial education digitally accessible to youth nationwide, the commission aims to encourage innovation, broaden professional participation, and cultivate digital skills across the financial services sector.

To ensure effective execution of the project, Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu directed official teams at both the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan to draft a comprehensive reform roadmap. The directive mandates the establishment of clear operational milestones, concrete implementation targets, and defined execution timelines to track progress throughout the institutional transition. The joint strategy ensures both regulatory bodies work in close coordination to construct modern educational pathways for current and future industry practitioners.

Regulatory leaders emphasized that establishing a skilled, tech-ready professional community remains indispensable for the long-term growth and stability of Pakistan’s financial markets. As corporate finance, trading platforms, and asset management models adopt automated and digital solutions, skilled human capital becomes essential for maintaining market integrity and driving sustainable growth. This comprehensive reform signals strong institutional commitment toward nurturing local financial talent, modernizing professional training infrastructure, and securing the country’s economic future.
