TPL Life and Mobilink Bank Expand Takaful Partnership with Shariah-Compliant Plans

TPL Life Insurance Limited has expanded its strategic partnership with Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited, also known as Mobilink Bank, through an agreement focused on introducing Unit-Linked Takaful Plans and converting existing insurance products into Shariah-compliant solutions. The development was disclosed by TPL Life to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday. Under the expanded collaboration, the two companies will work together to provide investment-linked protection solutions that follow Islamic financial principles. The partnership will allow Mobilink Bank customers to access a wider range of protection and Takaful products through the bank’s customer base and distribution network.

A key part of the agreement is the introduction of Unit-Linked Takaful Plans, which combine financial protection with investment-linked features under a Shariah-compliant structure. Unlike conventional insurance arrangements, these products are being designed to operate in accordance with Islamic financial principles. TPL Life will work with Mobilink Bank to make these investment-linked protection solutions available to customers, expanding the range of financial products that can be accessed through the microfinance bank. The companies will also work on converting existing insurance products into solutions structured to comply with Shariah principles, providing customers with additional options within the Islamic financial services segment.

The expanded partnership is expected to increase the availability of insurance and Takaful products to Mobilink Bank’s customers while supporting broader access to formal financial services. Mobilink Bank’s customer base will serve as a distribution platform for TPL Life’s protection and Takaful offerings, allowing the insurer to reach customers through the bank’s existing network and relationship with its clientele. The collaboration comes as financial institutions and insurance providers continue to develop products aimed at customers seeking Shariah-compliant alternatives. By combining investment-linked features with protection, the new Takaful plans are intended to address both financial protection and investment-related needs within an Islamic framework.

TPL Life said the initiative is intended to enhance access to insurance and Takaful products while supporting greater financial inclusion across Pakistan. The company also highlighted its continued focus on developing customer-focused insurance and Takaful solutions and increasing access to financial protection. The expanded arrangement with Mobilink Bank provides TPL Life with an additional channel for distributing its products, while the bank can offer its customers access to a broader selection of financial protection solutions. The collaboration therefore extends the existing relationship between the two companies into additional Shariah-compliant products and services.

The agreement represents a further step in the strategic collaboration between TPL Life and Mobilink Bank, with the companies focusing on Shariah-compliant protection and investment-linked solutions. However, TPL Life’s announcement did not disclose the financial value of the agreement, the expected number of customers who may be covered under the new products or a specific launch timeline for the Unit-Linked Takaful Plans. The company said it will continue to inform shareholders about any material developments in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. The expansion of the partnership is expected to add to the range of Takaful and insurance options available through Mobilink Bank while giving customers seeking Islamic financial products another avenue for accessing financial protection.
