Adil Salahuddin To Take Charge As Standard Chartered Pakistan CEO From August 13

Adil Salahuddin will assume charge as the new Chief Executive Officer and Director of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited (SCBPL) from August 13, 2026, following regulatory clearance from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about the leadership transition in a notice issued on Wednesday, August 12.

According to the notice submitted to PSX, Salahuddin’s appointment has received Fit and Proper Test clearance from State Bank of Pakistan, allowing him to formally take charge of the bank’s operations from August 13. The regulatory approval completes the process for his appointment, which was previously announced by the bank following approval from its board.

Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan had earlier communicated the appointment in a letter dated July 13, 2026. At that time, the bank stated that Salahuddin had been approved for the position of CEO and Director, subject to the required regulatory clearance. With the Fit and Proper Test now completed, the appointment will take effect from August 13.

Salahuddin will succeed Rehan Shaikh, who has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan and will continue in the role until the formal handover. The transition marks a change in leadership at one of Pakistan’s major international banking institutions, with Salahuddin bringing extensive experience within the banking sector and the Standard Chartered Group.

The incoming CEO has more than 30 years of banking experience, including 25 years with the Standard Chartered Group. During his career, he has held senior leadership positions across Markets, Coverage and Transaction Banking. His professional experience has covered several regions, providing exposure to different banking and financial markets.

Pakistan has remained a major part of Salahuddin’s professional career, while his experience also includes assignments in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. His regional exposure has extended to Middle Eastern and African markets, adding to his experience across international banking operations.

Salahuddin’s background across multiple banking functions and markets comes as Standard Chartered Pakistan continues to operate across corporate, commercial, retail and transaction banking segments. His appointment follows the regulatory process required for senior leadership changes at banks operating in Pakistan.

The Fit and Proper Test clearance from State Bank of Pakistan represents the final regulatory step highlighted in the bank’s latest communication to PSX. Following the clearance, Salahuddin is set to formally begin his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan on August 13, 2026.

The leadership change comes after more than three decades of banking experience accumulated by Salahuddin, with a significant portion of that period spent within the Standard Chartered Group. His experience in Markets, Coverage and Transaction Banking, combined with his work across Pakistan and international markets, will form the professional background he brings to the CEO position.

Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan’s notification to PSX provides the latest update on the appointment and confirms that Salahuddin’s assumption of charge is effective August 13 following the completion of the required regulatory clearance.
