Easypaisa digital bank has taken a pioneering role in supporting the Government of Pakistan by facilitating the implementation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Fuel Package 2026. As the nation’s leading digital financial services platform, Easypaisa is leveraging its advanced technological infrastructure to ensure the fast, secure, and transparent disbursement of financial assistance to millions of eligible citizens. This collaboration highlights the growing importance of digital banking in executing large scale public welfare programs, moving away from traditional manual systems that often suffer from delays and lack of oversight.
The platform achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first digital wallet to successfully transfer the initial batch of funds to truck operators. This was quickly followed by subsequent disbursements for tank lorries, buses, and motorcycles, covering a wide range of the country’s transport sector. To date, Easypaisa has already disbursed 1.2 billion rupees to over 32,000 beneficiaries. These recipients include operators of long haul vehicles, delivery vans, and public transport, all of whom have been significantly impacted by the recent volatility in global energy prices and domestic fuel costs.
The efficiency of this disbursement process is rooted in Easypaisa’s extensive digital payments infrastructure and its vast agent network, which spans both urban centers and remote rural areas. By using a robust mobile wallet ecosystem, the platform allows for real time fund transfers, enabling beneficiaries to access their relief money without the need to endure long queues or navigate complex bureaucratic processes. Recipients have the flexibility to withdraw their funds at any agent location, pay utility bills directly through the app, or make seamless digital purchases, further integrating them into the formal financial system.
Jahanzeb Khan, President and CEO of Easypaisa digital bank, emphasized the organization’s commitment to simplifying financial access for all Pakistanis. He noted that the partnership with the government is a testament to the impact digital banks can have on enhancing the transparency and efficiency of national initiatives. By ensuring precise targeting and minimizing the risk of leakages, the platform is setting a new standard for accountability in subsidy distribution. This digital first approach ensures that every rupee allocated for public welfare reaches the intended recipient’s digital wallet with full traceability.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, also lauded the initiative, describing digital payments as a key pillar of a modern financial system. She noted that under the digital nation vision of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, platforms like Easypaisa are essential for transforming lives and promoting a cashless, empowered Pakistan. With over 59 million registered users, Easypaisa continues to serve as a critical bridge between the government and the public, driving financial inclusion and supporting the broader goals of national digital transformation. The success of the Fuel Package 2026 disbursement serves as a powerful case study for the future of government to person payment systems in the region.
