The government has reiterated its commitment to cultivating a business-friendly economic environment and streamlining administrative workflows across the country through the framework of the National Industrial Policy. Designed to strengthen domestic manufacturing, elevate overall productivity, and drive investment-led economic expansion, the policy framework serves as a core blueprint for national industrial revival. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan conveyed this operational assurance during a high-level consultative session with a formal delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by chamber President Sardar Tahir Mehmood. The meeting was also attended by senior leadership, including Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production and Export Processing Zones Authority Chairman Freedoon Akram Sheikh.
Throughout the meeting, the representative delegation commended Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar Khan for their continuous initiatives aimed at stabilizing the macroeconomy, fostering sustainable industrial development, and advancing public welfare. In response, Haroon Akhtar emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly directed all relevant ministries and state institutions to provide maximum administrative facilitation to commercial enterprises and institutional investors. He reaffirmed that the current administration views the private sector as the primary locomotive of national economic development, recognizing that sustainable growth relies heavily on private capital investment, technology adoption, and industrial expansion.
Highlighting ongoing structural reforms, the Special Assistant pointed out that the federal cabinet has formally approved the Regulatory Guillotine Reform Programme, which is actively being rolled out across various regulatory bodies. This reform agenda aims to systematically eliminate redundant regulations, streamline complex compliance procedures, and build a transparent, responsive, and predictable regulatory ecosystem for businesses operating within Pakistan. By dismantling bureaucratic bottlenecks and lowering the cost of compliance, the government intends to create an inviting environment for both domestic industrialists and foreign direct investment. Both parties agreed that simplifying procedures remains essential to increasing local production capacity and encouraging global companies to establish local manufacturing hubs.
During the dialogue, the chamber leadership briefed the Special Assistant on an upcoming commercial trade delegation scheduled to visit Türkiye. The foreign trade mission aims to explore strategic opportunities for expanded bilateral trade, joint venture investments, and broader economic cooperation between Pakistani businesses and Turkish industrial partners. The session concluded with both government officials and private sector leaders agreeing to maintain close, ongoing coordination. By strengthening institutional alignment between state policymakers and trade associations, the government aims to accelerate industrialization, boost export volumes, generate sustainable employment opportunities, and establish a resilient foundation for long-term national economic progress.
