NIBAF Pakistan has successfully completed a two-day specialised training programme for officers participating in the Cyber Risk Officers Scheme (CROS-1), reinforcing technical capabilities in enterprise applications, big data and data warehousing within Pakistan’s central banking ecosystem. The programme was held from July 29 to July 30, 2026, at the NIBAF Pakistan Islamabad Campus through face-to-face sessions.
The training focused on two key areas that are becoming increasingly important in modern financial institutions. Participants received detailed instruction on Enterprise Applications and Related Development in the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), along with Big Data and Data Warehousing. The programme was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the technologies that support the central bank’s digital operations while enhancing their ability to manage cyber risks associated with critical financial systems.
The sessions were conducted by Moiz Muhammad, Senior Joint Director at the Information Technology Policy and Project Management Department (ITP&PMD) of the State Bank of Pakistan. Drawing on his experience in banking technology and information systems, he provided participants with practical knowledge of enterprise application architecture, data management practices and security considerations involved in maintaining large-scale technology platforms used by the central bank.
Throughout the programme, officers gained operational insights into the enterprise applications deployed within the State Bank of Pakistan and the supporting technologies that enable secure and efficient financial operations. The training also covered data storage models, data warehousing concepts and the role of big data technologies in managing and analysing large volumes of information generated across banking systems.
A significant component of the programme focused on cybersecurity frameworks associated with big data environments. Participants explored approaches for securing critical technological infrastructure, managing cyber risks and strengthening governance mechanisms around enterprise data. These discussions highlighted the importance of protecting sensitive financial information while ensuring the availability, integrity and confidentiality of systems supporting Pakistan’s banking sector.
The Cyber Risk Officers Scheme forms part of broader capacity-building initiatives designed to equip banking professionals with the technical knowledge required to address evolving cybersecurity challenges. As financial institutions continue expanding digital services, the demand for professionals capable of managing enterprise technology platforms and mitigating cyber threats continues to grow.
Training initiatives such as CROS-1 also support the development of specialised expertise in information technology governance and risk management. By combining technical instruction with practical operational knowledge, the programme aims to prepare officers to contribute effectively to the protection and resilience of digital banking infrastructure.
NIBAF Pakistan continues to play an important role in developing professional capabilities across Pakistan’s financial sector through specialised training programmes delivered in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan and industry experts. Programmes covering cybersecurity, digital technologies, risk management and financial innovation are becoming increasingly important as financial institutions accelerate digital transformation and strengthen technology governance frameworks.
The successful completion of the latest CROS-1 module reflects NIBAF Pakistan’s continued commitment to building technical expertise within the banking sector. By providing advanced training in enterprise applications, big data and cyber risk management, the institute is helping prepare financial sector professionals to manage complex digital environments while supporting the security, stability and long-term resilience of Pakistan’s financial system.
